Vision is more than simply seeing. Vision is a learned process that develops as a child grows and interacts with the environment through movement and experience. It requires the brain to interpret what the eyes see and integrate visual information with other sensory systems, including movement, balance, and touch. Nearly 80% of the information received by the brain is visual, making vision a primary system for learning and functioning. While the eyes provide visual input, the brain processes, organizes, and gives meaning to that information. Vision supports eye teaming, depth perception, spatial awareness, and fine and gross motor skills, and plays a critical role in learning tasks such as reading and writing as it continues to develop over time.
If your loved ones are experiencing any visual difficulties, consider having them evaluated. Reach out to us for further details.
