50 years, male pt, presented with a huge swelling over antero medial aspect of right thigh,measuring around (15 × 15) cm.
MRI showed, intra muscular lipoma.
The patient underwent excision biopsy under SAB.
The mass was around 3.4kgs.

65 years female pt presented to our opd with complaint of yellowish discoloration of sclera and body associated with abdominal pain..usg abdomen and pelvis ,MRCP and cect abdomen and pelvis was done which showed periampullary carcinoma.then successfully underwent whipple procedure.. ...done by our oncosurgeon Dr sudip shakya team.

Guru Purnima or Nepalese Teacher’s Day just celebrated in the country. This year we could not celebrate this special day due to Covid 19 Pandemics lock down in the country. We received many messages from our students to celebrate this special day. Professor Saroj Dhital , on behalf of whole department, thanked to all our beloved students for the good wishes and respects shown to all of us. On this special day, I would like to remind you all few MANTRAS from our mentor , guardian and GURU Proff Dhital, which he is fond of telling us during classes and ward rounds.
1. Don’t be “VOMIT’ i.e. Victims of Modern Imaging Technology. Surgeons should have presence of mind all the time and they should rely on their own judgement and clinical findings, should not totally rely on fancy technologies.
2. “Our patients are not a broken machine and we are not just a mechanics to fix it. They are human being so treat your patient with love, compassion and respect.”

Since 2010, Department of General Surgery KMH has been recognized as a post graduate training center in Surgery in collaboration with College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan(CPSP).Till date, total of 17 students from CPSP program have already completed their compulsory general surgery and urology training in the department. Since 2015, our department has also been recongnized by National Academics of Medical Sciences (NAMS) for training of MS general surgery residents and till now total of 12 students from NAMS have completed their six months rotational training in general surgery. Our department is also involved in the training of interns, preinterns and medical electives from different European, USA, Southeast Asia and Oceana countries. Dept of general surgery along with its mother organization phect-Nepal has got the privilege of starting telemedicine service in the country. Our department telemedicine unit is providing regular telemedicine consultations to the remote hospital of Nepal. We also enjoy a very good relation with different institutions around the globe and regular teaching learning activities are being conducted with the help of telemedicine service.

Phect-Nepal, Department of General Surgery, Kathmandu Model Hospital, was established in 1993 under the leadership of Professor Dr Saroj Dhital , who is also one of the founder of its mother organization Public Health Concern Trust Nepal (phect-Nepal). Since its establishment, the department has been trying its best by helping to build a society with healthy individual and believes in providing a very affordable surgery related facilities to needy people of rural as well as urban area of Nepal. Our department strongly believes in the vision of our main organization which is “Empowerment of people through health action”.
Since its establishment as a small unit in 18 bedded hospital at Bagbazar and later being shifted to 100 bedded hospitals in exhibition road, the department has transformed and expanded a lot in last 27 years. With lots of hard work in the initial days of establishment and with far sighted vision of our founder Dr Dhital in making an autonomous, self sustained and socially responsible surgery department with timely analyzing the need of establishing many subspecialties within it; the department has observed tremendous growth in terms of its services and human resources. At present, department has got ten young qualified full time surgeons including four urologists. We have been providing all sorts of general, laparoscopic and cancer related surgeries. Our urology unit has been providing all sorts of open and endourological facilities to the ordinary people. Department is equipped with all sorts of modern state of the art technologies like laparoscopy, endoscopic unit, harmonic and N-seal devices and all sort of endourological instruments including stone LASER.
