How is SSG (Tubal Patency Test) Done in Women? – Nepal IVF
An SSG (Sonosalpingography) is a simple, non-surgical test to check whether a woman’s fallopian tubes are open or blocked — an important step in evaluating fertility.
Here’s how the test is done:
1️⃣ A pelvic ultrasound is done first to visualize the uterus and ovaries.
2️⃣ A thin, soft catheter is gently inserted into the cervix.
3️⃣ Sterile saline is slowly injected through the catheter.
4️⃣ The ultrasound tracks the flow of saline to see if it passes through both fallopian tubes.
5️⃣ If the fluid flows freely → tubes are open.
If not → possible blockage that may need further evaluation.
💛 The procedure is quick (10–15 minutes), safe, and usually done without anesthesia.
At Nepal IVF, we perform SSG with expert care and advanced ultrasound technology to ensure accurate and comfortable evaluation.
