ग्यास्ट्रिक क्यान्सर मृत्युको प्रमुख कारणमध्ये एक हो, जुन प्रायः ढिलो पत्ता लाग्छ। समयमा परीक्षण गर्दा रोगको प्रभावकारी उपचार सम्भव हुन्छ, जबकि विकसित अवस्थामा शल्यक्रिया र कीमोथेरापी आवश्यक पर्छ। यो अध्ययनले ग्यास्ट्रिक क्यान्सर पुरुषहरूमा बढी देखिने र प्रायः जटिल अवस्थासहित पत्ता लाग्ने देखाएको छ। सचेतना अभिवृद्धि र समयमा रोग पहिचानले जीवन बचाउन सक्छ।

ग्यास्ट्रिक क्यान्सरका सबैभन्दा महत्वपूर्ण लक्षणहरू निम्नानुसार छन्:

1. अनायास तौल घट्नु
2. भोक कम लाग्नु वा नलाग्नु
3. थोरै खाँदा नै पेट भरिएको महसुस हुनु
4. लगातार अपच (एसिडिटी) र पेट दुखाइ
5. कहिलेकाहीं बान्ता हुनु
6. रगत वान्ता हुनु वा कालो दिसा (रगत मिश्रित)

यदि यी लक्षणहरू लामो समयसम्म रहिरहेमा, चिकित्सकसँग परामर्श गर्न आवश्यक छ।

जहाँ कोलन क्यान्सर परीक्षण कार्यक्रमहरू व्यवस्थित रूपमा चल्छन्, त्यहाँ यो रोग प्रारम्भिक चरणमै पत्ता लाग्ने सम्भावना हुन्छ। तर, हाम्रो जस्तो देशमा जनचेतनाको अभावले गर्दा कोलन क्यान्सरका धेरै केसहरू छुट्छन्, जसको परिणामस्वरूप ग्यास्ट्रोजेजुनोकोलिक फिस्टुला जस्तो दुर्लभ जटिलता ढिलो गरी देखा पर्न सक्छ। समयमै रोगको पहिचान र उपचारले जीवन बचाउन सकिन्छ।

I completed a two-month Erasmus+ clinical rotation at the Department of General, Visceral, and Transplant Surgery at the Medical University of Graz under the leadership of Univ.-Prof. Dr. Robert Sucher. During this time, I observed advanced hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB), colorectal procedures, robotic surgeries, organ retrieval from deceased donors, and liver transplantation.

I gained exposure to innovative techniques such as hyperspectral imaging and precision medicine, which are advancing surgical practice. Additionally, I observed the critical role of multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings and tumor boards in optimizing patient care and decision-making processes.

I extend my sincere gratitude to my mentors Univ.-Prof. Dr. Robert Sucher, Univ.-Prof. Dr. Máthé Zoltán, and Assoc.-Prof. Dr. med. Saulius Mikalauskas, as well as to all the consultant surgeons, the dedicated team of the Department of Surgery, the operating room staff, nurses, colleagues, and the International Office for their invaluable support during this period.

The liver transplant observership at CLBS-MAX Hospital in Saket, New Delhi, proved incredibly beneficial. Over the three-month program, we participated in 63 living donor liver transplants and 16 gastrointestinal surgeries, gaining invaluable insights into donor and recipient evaluation procedures, as well as the management of complex HPB cases. Additionally, we were exposed to Robotic and laparoscopic donor hepatectomy techniques. We are eager to implement these skills at our center. The unwavering support from all staff members, including operatives, administrators, junior consultants, and fellows, was exceptional and deeply appreciated. We express our sincere gratitude to Prof. Dr. Subhash Gupta, Dr. Shaleen Agarwal, and all the consultants and fellows for their outstanding guidance and mentorship throughout the program.
