7-Day Retreat: The Seventh Day
Make a heartfelt wish, and find the answers to life through meditation.
Participants’ Reflections:
🧘♀️ Meditation has helped me become more positive-minded. It’s not only that there are fewer thoughts, but also that I’m learning how to be happier.
🧘♂️ I joined a seven-day retreat before, but at that time I only wanted to have fun. During walking meditation, I kept wondering why we even had to walk. This time feels very different. I am aware while walking, aware while eating — clearly knowing and understanding. Bringing awareness into everyday life, returning to practice again and again, brings lightness and ease to both body and mind.
🧘♀️ I experienced some physical discomfort during these past few days. The Dharma teacher reminded me to listen to the silence and become aware of the blocked sensations in my body, to listen to what my body was saying. I gradually felt more open and at ease.
🧘 I work in the arts. Through photography, I observe flowers blooming and fading, and these movements resemble the slow, flowing motions of the Peacefulness Practice. Since all my work is connected with concentration, what happens in daily life and this Zen retreat seem to echo one another.
🧘♀️ Having practiced yoga before, I thought relaxation in meditation meant effortless ease. But I discovered that meditation requires concentration and awareness. During fast walking meditation, the Dharma teacher asked, “Who is walking?” I realized: I am walking, the body is walking — but who is truly walking?
🧘♀️ In daily life, we are always seeking something. When the body and mind relax, the seeking mind naturally lets go.
🧘♂️ I’m very happy to join this retreat. I saw many familiar faces from previous retreats, and it feels like this is a place people naturally return to again and again. I used to think of trees as merely plants, but while meditating and seeing the trees, I felt that trees are also living beings. Returning to this place feels as though I am being embraced. I’m grateful for every beautiful smile here. In this place, life is respected, and I too feel respected.
🧘♀️ I have known Ling Jiou Mountain for nearly seven years. Following Master Hsin Tao through Zen retreats of three days and seven days, from strengthening the legs in practice to where I am now, I have truly experienced the process of gradual accumulation. This practice continuously uplifts and deepens over time. Relaxation itself is a great cultivation. Before Nagarjuna Bodhisattva, I made a vow: may I attain enlightenment soon to help liberate all beings, may the true Dharma endure for a long time, and may many more people come to the meditation center and benefit from the practice of meditation.
