Pregnancy diagnosis in cows, sheep, and goats by diagnosing Pregnancy-Associated Glycoproteins (PAGs) via ELISA from blood/serum is vital for efficient livestock management. It ensures early, accurate detection (post 28-35 days), enabling proper nutrition, health care, and breeding planning. ELISA-based PAG testing is non-invasive, reliable, and reduces economic losses by preventing empty feeding and optimizing calving/lambing/kidding intervals.

Unlike HbA1c (less reliable in dogs due to shorter RBC lifespan), it aids in evaluating glycemic control without the stress of repeated blood draws required for glucose curves. This test helps adjust insulin doses, especially when home monitoring is challenging, and distinguishes chronic hyperglycemia from stress-induced spikes (e.g., normal fructosamine with transient glucose elevation).

Detection of Cytopenias:

Thrombocytopenia (low platelets) is a hallmark of Ehrlichia canis and Anaplasma platys infections.

Leukopenia or leukocytosis may be seen, depending on the infection stage.

Blood Smear Examination:

Direct visualization of morulae (clusters of bacteria) inside monocytes (Ehrlichia) or neutrophils (Anaplasma phagocytophilum) can confirm diagnosis.
