Some (interesting) FACTs about liver/liver health
1. The liver can regenerate—but only up to a point.
The liver is the only internal organ that can regrow itself after damage, even if up to 70% of it is removed. However, this remarkable ability is limited—chronic or repeated damage (like from alcohol, fatty liver disease, or hepatitis) can lead to scarring (fibrosis) and eventually cirrhosis, which cannot be reversed.
2. The FATTY liver loves a plant-rich diet.
A diet high in vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and healthy fats (like olive oil or nuts) can reduce liver fat and inflammation.
3. Coffee is surprisingly good for the liver.
Regular coffee drinkers (2–3 cups/day) have a lower risk of liver fibrosis, cirrhosis, and liver cancer.
It’s one of the few proven dietary protectors for the liver—but go easy on the sugar and cream.
4. Not all “natural” supplements are liver-friendly.
Herbal remedies and certain Ayurvedic products can cause liver damage. Don't ever think that those medicines are without side effects.
5. Fatty liver disease can happen to slim people too.
You don’t need to be overweight to develop non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Factors like insulin resistance, high cholesterol, and genetics also play a role.
6. Salt and sugar are hidden enemies.
Too much salt worsens fluid retention in cirrhosis. Excess sugar promotes fat buildup in the liver.
Check food labels, and reduce processed foods to protect your liver.
7. Too much "gastric" medicines can harm you and your liver.
