Success story - Treatment of complex Acom aneurysm with stent assisted coiling
An elderly male patient presented with a subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH). Non-contrast CT scan confirmed the diagnosis. We proceeded with CT angiography to evaluate the vascular anatomy and then performed a digital subtraction angiography (DSA) for definitive characterization and treatment planning.
Using a triaxial technique, we successfully navigated a shaped microcatheter into the aneurysm sac. The aneurysm was coiled with tight packing with stent assistance, achieving complete occlusion with no residual filling.
The procedure was performed through a minimally invasive groin puncture, avoiding the need for open surgery. The patient had an uneventful recovery and was discharged in a short period of time.
This case highlights that ruptured aneurysms can be effectively treated with neurointerventional techniques, offering rapid recovery, minimal invasiveness, and life-saving outcomes when treated in a timely manner.
