My journey towards the world of birth began when I became a mother myself in 2013. The arrival of our four children over the past six years has impressed on me the true wonder of birth and new life. When the time felt right, I began walking along this doula path. It has been a joy-full experience so far; one that allows me to share in this miracle of life again and again.

My day job (running after my four children) keeps me busy, so my aim is to complete all DONA certification requirements by the spring of 2020. In the meantime, I continue to read, learn, and come alongside expectant women, their partners and families through birth labour support.
Role of the Doula
According to DONA International, doulas “provide continuous physical and emotional support, and assistance in gathering information for women and their partners in labour and birth.” As a doula, I will come alongside you and your partner to help you feel safe and cared for, in hopes that you find joy in labour and the birth experience. I believe if a woman experiences emotional care and well being during labour, birth and postpartum, this helps provide a good foundation for strong relationships between the parents and child, which in turn will impact their future together.
My role as a doula is to assist you in having the birth experience that you want. This will primarily come through providing physical and emotional comfort measures. It is not my role to project my own hopes and goals onto your birth experience, nor is it within my training to provide any medical procedures or give any medical advice. I work in conjunction with you, your partner and your caregiver, as part of the entire birthing team.
Thank you for inviting me to share in this very special time in your lives. I consider it an honour and privilege. I am looking forward to our journey together, as we welcome your babe down to earth!
