Wishing veteran actress Rakhee Gulzar (76) a very happy and healthy birthday today.
She is known for her versatile acting and powerful portrayal of mother’s roles in the later part of her career. She played lead roles in movies like Sharmilee (1971), Daag (1973), Tapasya (1976), Kabhi Kabhi (1976) and Trishna (1978). After playing Amitabh’s mother in Shakti (1982) she transitioned to mother’s roles and had a two decade long successful innings in character roles most popular being Ram Lakhan (1989), Khalnayak (1993), Baazigar (1993), Karan Arjun (1995) and Border (1997). She retired from acting after her final appearance in the Bengali murder mystery Shubho Muhurat (2003) which earned her a National Award.
