The Dusty Yak Foundation

The Dusty Yak Foundation Supporting Orphans in Nepal ‘’The Dusty Yak Foundation provides financial aid to support children and orphanages in Nepal. There was no heating or hot water.

We raise funding and manage projects to clothes, house and feed orphans in order to help these children develop and realize their true potential through education and training. This is an on going programme to enable a nurturing environment for children, regardless of age, race or faith. Where funding allows, other projects for low income and impoverished families are identified to create long-ter

m sustainable benefit’’. Why we are different?

• There are more than 195,289 registered UK charities –many spend more than 50% their income on management, strategy development, campaigning and fundraising.
• UK Volunteers manage the Dusty Yak Foundation.
• 100% of financial donations are spent on Charitable Activities in Nepal.
• Dusty Yak Accounts are published on the website quarterly
• The identified Charitable Activities will be run by Nepalese Nationals managed by UK Volunteers
• The Charitable Activities will be continually managed and monitored to mitigate against corruption and waste

The Dusty Yak Foundation Projects

A The Orphanage
Our first project was rehousing 11 girls that were living in extreme poverty. The orphans were housed in tiny rooms with up to three children sharing a bed. The tin sheets acting as a roof offered little protection from the elements. The Children were suffering from malnutrition and other medical problems. Some of the children were suffering from abuse. A make shift tap provides washing facilities for the children, kitchen and clothes. B Vocational Training
The foundation will conduct vocational training for orphans in Nepal which will be Accredited by the UK Government. The Dusty Yak is able to offer UK government regulated (OFQUAL) accreditation through awarding bodies including the Chartered Institute of Environment Health, Industry Qualifications and Highfield . The training and International Accreditation program will promote employment domestically and abroad. C Educational Projects
The Foundation has identified Further Education Projects which include:
• Identifying individual Orphans that show educational promise and funding of school fees; dress, stationary and pack lunches.
• Provision of hygiene kits- The project will support young girls in government schools where the majority have to drop out of education when they reach puberty.
• Rural Teachers- funding of school teachers to the Rural Communities

D Micro Business Funding
The Foundation has identified Micro Business projects in Communities and will provide training and finance for sustainable small businesses such as:
• Agriculture projects including sunflowers and goats
• Candle making
• Sewing and needle craft
• Local convenience food stalls
• Cashmere production
• Artisan goods manufacturing
