🌍 ISPRM joins the WHO Disability Health Equity Network (DEN)

Today marks a historic moment for global health 🌐: the inaugural meeting of the WHO Disability Health Equity Network, held in Geneva 🇨🇭, officially launches a global movement for health equity for the 1.3 billion people with disabilities worldwide ♿💙

ISPRM is proud to be among the 152 founding members 🤝, representing civil society and the field of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine 🏥.
The DEN aims to address the unacceptable health gaps affecting persons with disabilities — who often face a higher risk of chronic conditions and premature mortality — by ensuring that health systems are inclusive, accessible, and just ⚖️✨

Through this initiative, ISPRM renews its commitment to advancing equity, accessibility, and dignity in rehabilitation and healthcare 💪💙

Nepalese Society of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation would like to congratulate Dr. Raju Dhakal, the president of NSPM&R for making an oral statement in the 78th session of WHO-SEARO RC meeting in strengthening rehabilitation in health systems on behalf of international society of physical and rehabilitation medicine and world rehabilitation alliance!!

🌍 ISPRM at WHO SEARO 78th Regional Committee — Colombo, Sri Lanka

The International Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (ISPRM) is honored to be represented by Dr. Raju Dhakal at the 78th Session of the WHO South-East Asia Regional Committee in Colombo.

Speaking on behalf of ISPRM during the policy discussions on Universal Health Coverage and health-related SDGs, Dr. Dhakal emphasized that:

“Rehabilitation is an essential health strategy for achieving Universal Health Coverage and Sustainable Development Goal 3.”

He highlighted that one-third of the world’s population could benefit from rehabilitation — with nearly 630 million people in the South-East Asia Region alone — and called for:
• Investment in quality rehabilitation services and skilled professionals at all levels of care
• Integration of rehabilitation and assistive technology into UHC monitoring and health systems
• Expansion of financial protection for rehabilitation services

👏 ISPRM commends the region’s leadership and supports the forthcoming WHO Strategic Framework for Rehabilitation, a key step toward achieving the Rehabilitation 2030 Agenda.
