โ€œPoverty has a negative impact on different aspects of children's lives, including educational outcomes. In Nepal, poor school children are forced to do the worst or most risky jobs to support their families financially.
Since most of them don't go to school regularly, their academic performance obviously declines. When they attend school, they are unlikely to be attentive due to their poverty and hopeless mindset.โ€

Why Education Matters?

In Nepal almost half of adults are illiterate and 39.6 percent of students drop out before graduating from primary school. Although the government provides free primary education, many schools are underfunded, overcrowded and in poor conditionโ€”especially rural ones. Given Nepalโ€™s immense poverty, this means that most schools lack libraries, books and other materials. Additionally, about a third of the population aged 5-14 works, keeping them out of the school system.

The future of tomorrow are naturally children and thus we the members of Nepal Buddhist Education and Meditation Centre, are determined to render every possible means to improve the literacy rate of socially and economically backward children, provide them basic teachings on reading and writing , providing with educational materials, encouraging them in every step of their endeavors so that in the future, we will have better human beings with awareness of ethics and values that will be better citizens to govern our country, in fact, better bureaucrats. โ€‹Only having educated people we can strengthen democracy.
