TU Lions Blood Transfusion and Research Center (TU Lions Blood Bank) is a dedicated institution established with the mission to strengthen Nepal’s blood management system through safe blood collection, testing, and distribution. Formed in collaboration with Tribhuvan University and Lions Clubs International MD 325 Nepal, the center serves as a bridge between voluntary blood donors and patients in need. It operates with high professional standards, ensuring that every unit of blood that reaches hospitals and individuals is safe, properly screened, and handled with care.
The center conducts regular blood donation camps across various communities, colleges, and organizations. With the support of Lions Clubs, volunteers, and technical staff, TU Lions Blood Bank collects hundreds of units of blood weekly to help meet rising medical demands. Every collected unit undergoes rigorous testing for transfusion-transmissible infections, blood grouping, and quality assurance before being delivered to hospitals. These camps also spread awareness about the importance of voluntary blood donation, encouraging new donors and building a sustainable donor network.
In addition to blood collection and distribution, TU Lions Blood Bank provides several key services: component separation (red cells, plasma, platelets), emergency blood supply, donor registry management, and counseling for donors. The center is also expanding its focus towards blood research, including improving storage methods, studying blood-related shortages, and exploring new ways to strengthen Nepal’s transfusion system. With its growing role in both service and research, TU Lions Blood Bank is becoming a vital pillar of Nepal’s healthcare sector, committed to saving lives every single day.
टि यू लायन्स ब्लड ट्रान्सफ्युजन एण्ड रिसर्च सेन्टर (TU Lions Blood Bank) सुरक्षित रक्त संकलन, परीक्षण र वितरणमार्फत नेपालको रक्त व्यवस्थापन प्रणालीलाई सुदृढ बनाउने उद्देश्यका साथ स्थापना गरिएको एक समर्पित संस्था हो। त्रिभुवन विश्वविद्यालय तथा लायन्स क्लब्स इन्टरनेशनल MD 325 नेपालको सहकार्यमा बनेको यस केन्द्रले स्वैच्छिक रक्तदाताहरू र रक्त आवश्यक परेका बिरामीहरूबीच महत्वपूर्ण सेतुको रूपमा काम गर्दछ। यसले उच्च व्यावसायिक मानकअनुसार सञ्चालन हुँदै प्रत्येक रक्तएकाइ सुरक्षित, उचित रूपमा स्क्रिन गरिएको तथा जिम्मेवारीपूर्वक अस्पताल र व्यक्तिसम्म पु¥याउने सुनिश्चित गर्दछ।
केन्द्रले विभिन्न समुदाय, कलेज तथा संस्थाहरूमा नियमित रूपमा रक्तदान कार्यक्रमहरू सञ्चालन गर्दै आएको छ। लायन्स क्लबहरू, स्वयंसेवक तथा प्राविधिक टोलीको सहयोगमा TU Lions Blood Bank ले हरेक हप्ता बढ्दो चिकित्सकीय आवश्यकतालाई पूरा गर्न सयौँ युनिट रक्त संकलन गर्छ। संकलित प्रत्येक रक्तएकाइमा संक्रमणसँग सम्बन्धित रोगहरूको परीक्षण, रक्तसमूह निर्धारण तथा गुणस्तर सुनिश्चितता जस्ता आवश्यक परीक्षणहरू गरिन्छ र त्यसपछि मात्र अस्पतालहरूमा उपलब्ध गराइन्छ। यी कार्यक्रमहरूले स्वैच्छिक रक्तदानको महत्वबारे जनचेतना फैलाउँदै नयाँ दाताहरूलाई प्रोत्साहित गर्न तथा दाता सञ्जाललाई दिगो बनाउन मद्दत पुर्याएका छन्।
रक्त संकलन र वितरणका अतिरिक्त, TU Lions Blood Bank ले धेरै महत्वपूर्ण सेवाहरू प्रदान गर्छ—जस्तै रक्तका घटकहरू (रेड सेल, प्लाज्मा, प्लेटलेट) अलग गर्ने सेवा, आकस्मिक रक्त व्यवस्थापन, दाता दर्ता प्रणाली सञ्चालन तथा रक्तदाताहरूका लागि परामर्श सेवा। केन्द्रले रक्त अनुसन्धानतर्फ पनि आफ्नो दायरा विस्तार गर्दैछ, जसमा भण्डारण विधि सुधार, रक्त अभावका कारणहरूको अध्ययन तथा नेपालको ट्रान्सफ्युजन प्रणालीलाई थप सुदृढ बनाउने उपायहरूको खोजी समावेश छ। सेवा र अनुसन्धान दुवै क्षेत्रमा आफ्नो भूमिकालाई निरन्तर मजबुत बनाउँदै, TU Lions Blood Bank आज नेपालको स्वास्थ्य क्षेत्रमा जीवनरक्षक स्तम्भको रूपमा स्थापित हुँदै गएको छ।
