NYF is thrilled to share that as of July 2022, the Nutritional Rehabilitation Home in Dadeldura has been officially handed over to the Nepali government!

This is following our sustainable model where the nutrition rehabilitation homes we establish are transitioned to the government over the course of five years. This NRH in Dadeldura was established in 2017, and is the final nutrition facility to be transitioned to the government - meaning that all other NRHs are now fully funded and managed by the Nepali health system!

NYF will continue running our permanent flagship Kathmandu Valley location, which serves as a treatment center and a training hub. Nepal has embraced our NRH model as their nationwide standard for treating pediatric malnutrition, and the government is now building its own NRH facilities - staffed with experts trained at our flagship center.

NYF's NRH has accelerated outreach camp in rural communities in periphery of Kathmandu Valley. A team with doctors, nurses, and dietitian and para professionals mobilize in rural villages for conducting camp. Recently conducted camp in Ramechhap and Kavre revealed that malnutrition prevalence is alarming in these areas. Out of 1,114 children, 307 children were identified in different stages of malnutrition (243 mild, 56 MAM and 8 SAM). If this problem is not address on time, there is no doubt in increasing MAM and SAM cases in near future.

Before luckdown, Nutritional Rehabitation Home became empty. NYF started to serve COVID positive desparate people who had no place to isolate themselves from the same facility. If you, your family and your friends are looking for such place, contact us.

Very sad to share superstitious belief existed in rural community of Nepal. If a baby becomes undernourished, this is the practice to handedover the baby to a monkey. It is said that if the monkey plays with the baby, baby can gain the weight and survives. Thanks to those people who brought this baby to Dadeldhura NRH for rehabilitatiin. Now the baby's nutritional condition is improving.

As an outreach activity, NYF produced Nutritious flour (POSHILO PITHO) was distributed to the poor and underprivileged children living in river side of Kageshori, Manahara area on April 1st, 2021. Most of the parents of these children were dependent on daily wages labour work. During this pandemic period, they are not getting sufficient work which directly effects on their food. Adequate nutrition is far from them. It is hoped that this tiny support can help the children to overcome from the state of under nutrition.

NRH team conducted 3 day long health and nutritional camp in remote villages of Tanahu and Lamjung from March 18-20, 2021. Team comprises paediatricians, nurses, dietician, para professional and volunteers. More than 800 children and their mothers were benefitted from the camp.

As a regular activities of NRH, on February 19, 2021, a team from NRH moved to Jorpati Kathmandu to conduct nutritional screening and nutritional awareness session. The activity was organized in close coordination with Sunsar Maya an NGO. Team distributed a packet of Super flour (Lito) to all the children.

National Iodine Month has been celebrated in February each year to raise awareness on the use of two child-logo salt for optimum iodine intake to combat iodine deficiency disorders in Nepal. NRH has been celebrating National Iodine Month in NRH as well as in community.
