माघे संक्रान्ति, जसलाई मकर संक्रान्ति पनि भनिन्छ, नेपाल र भारतका विभिन्न समुदायहरूले धार्मिक, सांस्कृतिक, र प्राकृतिक महत्वका कारण मनाउँछन्। यस चाडको मूल उद्देश्य सूर्यको मकर राशिमा प्रवेशको उत्सव मनाउनु हो, जसलाई सकारात्मक उर्जाको प्रारम्भको संकेत मानिन्छ। यसलाई शुभ अवसरको रूपमा लिइन्छ, जहाँ दिन लामो र रात छोटो हुँदै जान्छ।

मनाउने प्रमुख कारणहरू:
धार्मिक महत्त्व:

हिन्दू धर्मअनुसार, यो दिन सूर्यदेव मकर राशिमा प्रवेश गर्नुहुन्छ, जसले शुभ समयको सुरुवात गर्दछ।

माघे संक्रान्तिले हिउँदको कठोर चिसो अन्त्य भई शिशिर ऋतुको आगमन संकेत गर्दछ।
कृषि कार्यका लागि यो समय उपयुक्त मानिन्छ, जसले किसानहरूका लागि पनि यस पर्वलाई विशेष बनाउँछ।
पौराणिक कथा:

एउटा कथा अनुसार, यो दिन भीष्म पितामहले आफ्नो इच्छा मृत्युको वरदान अनुसार गंगाको किनारामा स्वर्गारोहण गरेका थिए। यो दिन मृत्यु हुनेहरू सीधा स्वर्ग जाने विश्वास गरिन्छ।
