2024 Theme: Unleashing the power of gender equality: Uplifting the voices of women and girls to unlock our world's infinite possibilities.

Awareness of global population issues, world population day is observed every year on July 11th. Mainly two things are focused on the celebration, raising awareness on exploding world population and informing about reproductive health and rights are prioritized.

Since 1989, World Population Day has been celebrated on July 11 every year to address population issues around the world. Interestingly, on July 11, 1987, on the occasion of the world's population reaching about 5 billion, the Population Summit announced the celebration of this day.

It took about 300,000 years for the population to reach one billion since the creation of the human species on earth. Coming to Population Day 2023, one billion people have been added in the last 12 years. Along with this, it was recently announced that the world's population has reached eight billion. According to the United Nations Population Report published on the occasion of World Population Day, it is estimated that the world's population reached eight billion on November 15, 2022.
