आमा र स्वास्थ्य सँगसँगै” -Health and Motherhood, Side by Side. ❤️
This World Health Day, we stood by the global theme: “Together for health. Stand with science.” For us, that meant ensuring the women in our community have the knowledge and tools to own their health journey.
It was such a beautiful day of collaboration between Gandaki Medical College, Lumbini Medical College, and Manipal College of Medical Sciences. Seeing three different colleges join forces for one cause made the impact so much deeper.
A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Santosh, Dr. Namuna, and Dr.Jessica. Your guidance turned complex medical topics into comfortable, life-saving conversations.
To our team of 15 volunteers who handled everything with so much heart, and the residents of Ward 14 and 17 of Pokhara Metropolitan, thank you for your trust and for showing up for yourselves.
A few highlights from the day:
Empowered over 200 women with health awareness.
Practical training on Breast Self-Examination.
Open discussions on Cervical Cancer prevention.
A step toward sustainability with Reusable Sanitary Pad sessions.
Beyond the numbers, it was about the shared smiles and the realization that when we look after a mother's health, we look after the future.🫶🏻

Today marked a significant milestone for
"Aamako Man", an initiative organized by BHAV Nepal with the collaborative support of Nepal Health Corps-Gandaki Medical College Team, as we completed Phase Two of our mission in Madi. In our first phase, we focused on reaching out and listening through data collection. Today, we moved from understanding and assessing those needs into direct intervention and support.
The day was incredibly moving as women from across the village visited us. Our dedicated team from NHC-GMC and BHAV Nepal led the way, handling registrations and conducting general examinations, including vitals and PILCOD for everyone who joined.
For 60 women identified during our initial data collection, we were able to provide one-on-one, private consultations with expert doctors from GMC hospital. These sessions allowed for a deeper level of care and professional guidance in a safe, supportive environment.
Beyond the clinical checks, we spent time together as a community. We held a group awareness program where we practiced yoga and meditation, sharing simple ways to find peace in daily life. Every woman also received a flyer with emergency mental health management steps and important helpline numbers, ensuring they have resources long after today ends.
Our deepest thanks go to our incredible volunteers and the expert doctors who gave their time and heart to this cause.
We are also grateful to the FCHVs, the Swasthya Pramukh, the Wada Adhyakshya, and the esteemed personalities from the Gaupalika and the school committee for providing the space and support to make this possible.
Most importantly, we thank the women who shared their feelings with such openness. Your trust is the reason we do this work.

Today at the GMC hospital premises, we had an incredible day engaging with everyone who stopped by our World TB Day information booth. It was truly heartening to see so many visitors take the time to chat with us, ask questions, play our fun "spin the wheel" game and learn more about Tuberculosis. We spent the day spreading awareness on early symptoms and the life-saving DOTS (Directly Observed Treatment Short-course) strategy, which remains 100% curable and free of cost across Nepal.
To everyone who visited and supported our initiative, thank you for your openness. As a special part of our campaign, we also distributed masks as a symbol of our collective commitment to protecting one another and finally ending the stigma surrounding TB. A huge shoutout to our dedicated volunteers for their hard work in making this happen. By standing together and staying informed, we can truly say: Yes! We Can End TB.

Today, March 24th, we join the global community for World TB Day under the theme "Yes! We Can End TB." Tuberculosis remains one of the world's leading infectious killers, but the most important thing to remember is that it is 100% preventable and curable. Early detection is everything; if you or someone you know has a persistent cough for more than 2 weeks, its time to get checked. Through the DOTS (Directly Observed Treatment Short-course) strategy, patients have a proven support system to ensure full recovery and prevent drug resistance. In Nepal, these services and medications are provided free of cost at government health centers, so there is no reason to fight this alone. Let's break the stigma, spread the facts, and support those in treatment.

On March 1, we had a meaningful session with Mr. Niraj Bhusal and students, where we explored the growing role of Al in healthcare. A sincere thank you to everyone who joined and contributed to the discussion.
We are especially grateful to our presenter, Mr. Niraj Bhusal, who shared thoughtful insights on the importance of Al for health professionals, the current Al policy and institutional landscape in Nepal, and the potential of telemedicine and Al to expand healthcare access to every corner of the country.
The session was a valuable space to reflect on how technology and healthcare can work together to improve access and strengthen Nepal's health system.

"Aamako Man" was about reaching out, sitting together, and talking about mental health in a way that felt safe, respectful, and supportive.
In Madi Gaupalika 5, the NHC-GMC team, in collaboration with BHAV and accompanied by 7 Female Community Health Volunteers, 2 Tole Bikash members, and the ward chairperson, visited multiple communities and carried out a structured community survey using standardized and officially recognized maternal mental health questionnaires.
With 27 volunteers involved, we reached over 200 women aged 15 to 49 across toles including Sunpadeli, Tham Lankathar, Thulaswara, Chitepani, Jaubari, Deumadi, Chapachaur, Bhaise, Chitre, Bayerghari and Kaure.
While collecting data, our focus remained on respectful interaction, attentive listening, and raising awareness about mental well-being during pregnancy and motherhood.
We sincerely thank the FCHVs, Tole Bikash members, and the ward chairperson for their guidance, support, and trust, which were essential in building strong connections with the community. This initiative organized by BHAV, in collaboration with NHC-GMC included local community leaders, showing how joint efforts can make maternal mental health a shared priority.
