🌟 Day 1 of Teacher Training in Nisikhola, Baglung! 🌟

Today we kicked off our teacher training days in Nisikhola with over 50 educators from 45 schools within Nisikhola Rural Municipality in Baglung!! The day began with a heartfelt opening ceremony, followed by a traditional flower garland ceremony to honor this special event. 🌸

We broke the ice with a fun introduction game and then heard a beautiful story from Gertine Vorstelman and Ashma Ranjit about the power of ‘shining eyes’ in both teachers and students. The teachers reflected on moments they’ve witnessed this in their classrooms, and their stories were both touching and inspiring. ✨

After some energizing outdoor activities—including a Macarena dance and a Nepali dance exchange—we dove into a thought-provoking "Over the Line" activity, sparking lively discussions. 🤝

Hilde Venema introduced the concept of the ‘flow state,’ and the teachers brainstormed ways to create moments of flow in their classrooms. 🌱

We wrapped up with a fun game of "1, 2, 3" and are feeling grateful for the dedication and passion of these amazing educators. Excited for the learning and connection in the days ahead and we will have more fun tomorrow.🌈

🌟 Celebrating the End of Our Pokhara Teacher Training Module-3 ! 🌟

What an incredible journey we've had with our amazing group of teachers! Our final day started with a visit to LA Secondary School, where we were warmly welcomed and had the opportunity to observe two of our talented training participants in action.

After the school visit, we gathered together to celebrate everything we've accomplished. The day kicked off with a reflection on the Cultural Parent Day – the true highlight of the module – which received glowing feedback from everyone involved. 🌍✨

Next, we watched five short clips of the classes we observed on Friday and today. It was so inspiring to see the hard work and dedication of our teachers on video! Afterward, we paired up to provide feedback using the "three stars and one wish" model, celebrating the strengths of each class and offering constructive suggestions for growth.

To wrap things up with a little fun, we had a compliment exchange energizer! Teachers wrote encouraging notes for their colleagues and placed them on each other's backs. It was such a heartwarming way to share appreciation and celebrate the hard work and contributions of everyone involved. 💖

The day ended with a heartfelt closing ceremony, featuring speeches from the NFORSDT board, Gertine Vorstelman, and Prem Kunwar. We are so proud of the progress our participants have made! Not only did they gain new knowledge, but they also put it into practice in their classrooms and during the Cultural Parent Day. 🎓👏

This module has been a resounding success, and we couldn't have done it without the dedication of everyone involved. We look forward to continuing our work to bridge knowledge and culture and create an even better learning environment for our Nepali students. 📚🌱

🌟 A Special Day of Connection and Culture! 🌟

Today was truly unforgettable! We hosted our Cultural Parent Day, a celebration of Nepal’s rich and diverse heritage, where we invited parents to join in on the training and encouraged everyone to wear their traditional cultural attire. The room quickly became a vibrant, colorful reflection of the pride and joy we all share in our heritage.

The day kicked off with a beautiful opening speech by Prem Kunwar, followed by the singing of the Nepali anthem. Then, each teacher was paired with a parent for a fun icebreaker game that helped everyone get to know each other and set the stage for the day's discussions.

We were also treated to a heartfelt story shared by Gertine Vorstelman, beautifully translated by Ashma Ranjit, which set the tone for the day ahead. Participants reflected on their personal challenges as teachers or parents, which led to meaningful conversations about mutual understanding and shared experiences.

Hilde Venema brought in some fun and energy with an energizer activity, filling the room with laughter and smiles! 😊

The group then split into smaller teams, where both parents and teachers asked each other important questions about their roles, challenges, and ideas for improvement. The goal of the day was to foster better communication and understanding between parents and teachers—and it was truly inspiring to see the respectful and insightful discussions unfold.

After a nice lunch, Roos Gültuna shared the final insights of her research, highlighting the importance of respectful, equal, and open communication to create the best possible learning environment for our children.

The day ended with a sense of fulfillment and joy, knowing that the connections made today will continue to strengthen the relationship between parents and teachers in schools.

We hope this training sparks ongoing conversations and collaboration between parents and teachers in every school, because as we all know: “It takes a village to raise a child.” 🌱

🌟 An Inspiring Day at Gyan Ganga School! 🌟

Today we were able to see how our teachers put their knowledge into practice, during our school visit at Gyan Ganga School. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the vice-principal, teachers, and students. The day began with a heartfelt assembly, followed by tikkas and beautiful flowers 🌸✨

The atmosphere at the school was ver cosy and colourful, with beautiful paintings and posters on the wall. We visited three teachers and observed their classes. It was wonderful to see how they put their knowledge from former trainings into practice. From engaging facial expressions and gestures to fun games and energizers, the students were fully engaged and excited to learn! 🙌📚

After a nice lunch break, we sat down with the teachers to provide feedback. It was inspiring to see their dedication and how they continue to grow through their teacher training. We are so proud of their commitment to creating a positive and effective learning environment for their students. 💡💛

🌞 Day 3 of our Training Module: Creativity, Reflection, and Action! 🌞

We kicked off Day 3 with a beautiful poem by Ganga Sir and a special moment to celebrate Chhath Holiday, a time to honor the sun and rivers—reminding us to appreciate nature. 🌅

After a fun recap with a “clapping game,” where teachers discussed key takeaways from yesterday, we watched an inspiring aftermovie from Day 2, created by Ashma Ranjit. 🎥✨

Roos shared the results of our Day 1 survey, and we had an interesting discussion about using social media for teacher-parent communication—highlighting the importance of setting boundaries to protect privacy.

Next, teachers got creative with a Reading Circle—presenting ideas through mind maps, skits, and even talk-show interviews! It was a fun way to engage with the content and spark new teaching ideas.

We then explored the concept of mindset with a hands-on paper-folding challenge, helping teachers think about how different mindsets influence learning and problem-solving. This will be a great tool for fostering understanding in parent meetings too! ✂️📄

The day wrapped up with a deep dive into the Knoster Model, where teachers collaborated in teams to identify strengths and areas for growth in their schools. Creative solutions were shared, like hosting workshops by parents or expert-led training sessions. 👩‍🏫✨

We closed with a focus on small, positive actions to increase parental involvement—starting small can create a ripple effect! Tomorrow, teachers will put their new strategies into practice in their classrooms. Excited to see how they’ll use what they’ve learned!

🌟 Day 2 of Our Training Module: Energy, Insight, and Collaboration! 🌟

After an amazing start yesterday, we dove into Day 2 with even more excitement!

We kicked things off with a fun Nepalese TikTok dance led by teachers Sabina and Pabitra, setting the stage for a day full of learning and connection. 💃🕺

The day was packed with interactive activities, including a thought-provoking discussion on parental involvement. Teachers shared their opinions in an energizing "corner discussion" and worked in groups to explore how theory translates into classroom practice. 📚💬

A highlight was our Reading Circle, where teachers analyzed an article and worked together to find practical ways to apply it in their classrooms. The group discussions sparked creative ideas and strategies for better engaging parents in education.

We also reflected on the why, how, and what of parental involvement, helping teachers clarify their goals and develop actionable solutions. 📝✨

After a powerful session on Epstein's six types of parental involvement, teachers brainstormed their favorite strategies and shared them for everyone to use. 🧠💡

To end the day on a high note, we created a "Wall of Happiness" by collecting small notes of what makes us smile. It was the perfect way to wrap up such an inspiring day!

Tomorrow, we’ll build on everything we’ve learned, focusing on actions and solutions that will help us all take parental involvement to the next level. 🚀
