ЁЯФ╣We are happy to share the successful completion of District Annual Review meetings in Solukhumbu, Khotang, Okhaldhunga, Udayapur, Jhapa, Terathum, and Taplejung on different dates. It was truly inspiring to see active and enthusiastic participation from the Chief of District Coordination Committees, Representatives from MoSD, Chief Administration Officers, Deputy Mayors, Palika Focal Persons, OPD members, and representatives of NFD-N and other organizations. What stood out most was how participants embraced the Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Program (DPRP) as their own, sharing valuable insights, experiences, and a shared commitment to making it stronger in their respective districts. Moments like these reaffirm the power of collaboration in driving sustainable change.

We had an inspiring meeting with Mr. Atul Upadhyay, Founder and Chief Scientific Advisor of Vertex Special Technology, to explore ways to foster inclusive employment for persons with disabilities.

What began as a heartfelt discussion turned into action, one individual with a disability has already been offered a meaningful job opportunity as part of this growing partnership.

This marks the start of a long-term collaboration between Karuna Foundation Nepal and Vertex, rooted in empowerment, dignity, and sustainable inclusion. Karuna Foundation Nepal is focusing on ensuring a dignified life for persons with disabilities by supporting their entry into the job market and livelihood opportunities - one by one.

Hon. Social Development Minister of Karnali Province, Mr. Ghanshyam Bhandari, and Hon. Member of Parliament, Ms. Sita Kumari Rana, held a joint meeting with Hon. Minister of Women, Children and Senior Citizens (MoWCSC), Mr. Nawal Kishor Sah Sudi, and Secretary Ms. Laxmi Basnet in Kathmandu.

Both leaders strongly advocated for increased federal budget support for the DPRP program, emphasizing its impact and importance for persons with disabilities.

Hon. Federal Minister Sah Sudi appreciated the program, saying:

Hon. Minister Bhandari highlighted that although Karnali has already begun implementing DPRP, the lack of adequate budget has posed challenges, тАЬWeтАЩre doing our best at the province level, but we need stronger financial backing from the federal government.тАЭ

The meeting concluded that continued collaboration between federal, provincial, and local governments, along with development partners, is key to realizing the full potential of DPRP for the well-being of persons with disabilities.

Following the meeting, Hon. Minister Bhandari also visited the Karuna Foundation Nepal Office in Kathmandu and held discussions with Executive Director Mr. Deepak Raj Sapkota to explore mutual collaboration for improving the quality of life of persons with disabilities in Karnali Province.

Karuna Foundation Nepal extends heartfelt gratitude to the Rotary Club of Kathmandu Metro and Rotary Club of Patan Durbar Square for their generous support in providing 27 wheelchairs for children and adults with disabilities. This meaningful contribution reflects a shared commitment to creating a more inclusive and accessible society. For persons with disabilities, mobility is not merely about physical movement, it is about reclaiming independence, restoring dignity, and opening up opportunities for education, employment, healthcare, and full participation in community life. With these wheelchairs, recipients will be better equipped to move freely, engage actively in their daily routines, and experience a renewed sense of freedom and self-worth. Karuna Foundation Nepal is proud to collaborate with partners who believe in equal rights and opportunities for all.

ЁЯФ╣ At just three months old, Chapeti Chemjung suffered a severe leg burn that changed the course of her life. For years, she relied on a bamboo stick as a makeshift limb, painfully walking short distances and struggling with daily tasks like cooking or fetching water.

However recently, through the Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Program, Chapeti received a lower limb prosthesis during a camp organized by the Rotary Club of Birtamode and Madwadi Sewa Sadan, Gaushala. Along with the prosthesis, she was also given gait training to help her walk with confidence.

Today, Chapeti walks more freely, travels longer distances, and moves through her day with renewed ease and dignity.
