Building Systems to Save Lives In developing and underdeveloped societies, those with the lowest resources are farthest from quality care.

Existing healthcare delivery systems further exacerbate this gap. At Karma, through an innovative Community-driven Health Care model, we focus on reaching the last mile with effective community based programs. And we guarantee quality clinical care at our comprehensive care clinics. Thus we make sure basic healthcare is not only within reach but also sufficient and dignified. We believe Community-driven Healthcare can be a model of accessible, affordable and quality primary healthcare that can be adapted globally in areas under-served by existing healthcare systems. Currently, we are working in communities and government health facilities in and around Hansipur, in rural western Nepal, where there are no doctors for more than fifty thousand people. The deprivation is further aggravated by the fact that there is no electricity and that the only way to the outer world is a single seasonal road. At Karma, we hold ourselves accountable to our morals and to the results that we deliver. Our implementation team will work on the ground to make sure that by the end of year three, our interventions will bring down the deaths of babies under one year(our proxy for overall health status in the community) of age by half at about US Dollars five per person (about what the government is investing currently) per year.
