Shared values of responding to the needs of their clients at a difficult time, giving back to their local community and creating unique memorable celebrations, has led to a ‘perfect match’ between Central Otago’s leading funeral directors Affinity and the region’s oldest family-run funeral business Campbell & Sons in Mosgiel. Affinity was started in 2009 by friends and Alexandra locals Janice Millis and Lynley Claridge after the death of seven close family members prompted Lynley to think about setting up the business. The merger began in 2020 with both businesses learning from each other and coming together with a goal to provide the best standard of funeral care across Otago. This has included upskilling staff, with additional training in best practices, hiring new people, streamlining administration, including centralising design and printing, and upgrading Affinity’s venue, The Cellar Door.

Peacefully in the care of the Intensive Care Unit at Dunedin Hospital.

It is with much sadness we say goodbye to John. He is a loved husband and soulmate of Sharlene for 56 years, adored Poppa Bear of Debbie, and role model of Shane, much loved Pop to Aleisha, Britney, and Kyla, and Poppy of AJ, loved brother and brother-in-law of Robin, Jill and Neville*, Rodger*, and Lois and Terry. *denotes deceased.

A huge thank you to the wonderful amazing staff of the Intensive Care Unit at Dunedin Hospital. A big thank you to St John Ambulance Alexanda, Alexandra Fire Service, Dunstan Hospital, and the Otago Southland Rescue Helicopter.

On Friday February 27, 2026, peacefully with family by his side, at Ranui Home and Hospital, Alexandra; aged 73 years.

Loved husband of Paulette, loved Dad and father-in-law of Emma and Karl, Aaron and Jo, and Glenn and Lauren, loved Poppa of Ben; Ayson, Alia, and Hunter; Ava, Dani, Lyla, and Mitchell. Loved son of Melody* and Robert* Watson. Loved son-in-law of Margaret* and Charles* Chittock. Loved by all the Watson and Chittock families, loved uncle to all his nieces and nephews.

Family thank the staff of Ranui for their dedicated care and support. Stu was a friend of many and will be sorely missed.

Loved wife of the late Graham (Gaffa) and sister of the late Frank Finnegan. Treasured mother and mother-in-law of Sarah and Andrew, Dennis and Sally, Sean and Nicky, Katie and Clayton. Beloved Nana Hells of her grandchildren; Caleb, Jasmine, Sheamus, Liam, Ben, Tom, Bridget, Jake, Eva, Georgia, Kaitlyn, Jonty, Archie and Luchia and Great Nana of Payton.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff of Ranui Court Retirement Village in Alexandra for their dedicated care of Helen during her final weeks.

Peacefully, at Maniototo Hospital, Ranfurly, following a courageous three-year battle with Motor Neurone Disease. Glenys faced her journey with strength, dignity, and grace.

Beloved and cherished wife of Jim Walker (Ranfurly), much loved and respected mother of Suzanne, and James Walker (Ranfurly), treasured grandmother of Jason and Jessica Rosie (Dunedin), Steph and Travis Peters (Oamaru), Ellie Walker (Winton), and Jayden and Zac Walker (Christchurch), adored great-grandmother of Jackson, Joel and Jordan Rosie, and Toby and Neve Peters. Loved sister and sister-in-law of Joy Fraser* and Alma Kitto*; Ken Mason (Ranfurly) and Jeanette Mason*; Dawn Graham*; Bonnie and Colin Smith (Ranfurly); and Ewan Mason and Heather Kinley (Ranfurly). Emma passed peacefully on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, after a brave fight, aged 45 years.

Loving wife of Mark and devoted mother to Sophie, beloved daughter of John and Paddy Gardner, and sister of Andy and Dave Gardner, much loved sister-in-law to Steph, Jackie and Abbey, loving Auntie to Paige, Evie and Delilah, and loving daughter-in-law to Pauline.

‘We will miss you terribly, your kind heart and your cheeky smile’.

The family wish to acknowledge the tremendous support and compassion shown by the staff at Aspiring Care in Wanaka, during Emma’s final days.
