Sending the biggest thanks to all of my incredible practice members this year. It has been such a pleasure being able to take care of you all, and I'm honoured to be a part of your health journeys.

If you've been feeling a bit run down lately, you're not alone. We find that the final stretch to the holidays leaves people feeling stressed and worn a bit thin.😓

To ensure that your body is able to resist the stress placed on it over the next coming weeks, try to ensure that you're checking these wellbeing tips off each week. 🔥

Fuel (water and nutritious food) 🥕🥑🥗
When we fuel our bodies with good food, and adequate hydration we give ourselves the energy needed to meet the demands of our day

Rest 😴
I know this seems like a given, however we should all be striving for at least 8hrs of sleep per night. This will help your body reset, so that you can take on the next day!

Get Checked ✅
Ensure you're receiving your regular chiropractic checks to ensure your body is stress free and able to take on the stressors you'll experience into the holidays

Exercise 🏃
Even if it seems like the last thing you want to do, exercising at least 30 mins three times per week will help your body feel more energised due to the increase of dopamine into the system.

Chiropractic looks at the relationship between the brain and body through the spine and nervous system.🧠

Why is this important?
Your nervous system regulates every function within your body. From your heart beating, breathing, hormone secretion, to higher cognitive functions such as solving a problem.❓

It is so integral to our health and wellbeing, that is it the only system within our body that is encased in bone.🦴

When we experience various stressors in our lives, this can effect how well our brain can communicate with our body. Thus creating tension, causing our bodies to function suboptimally.👎

💛The magic of chiropractic for children💛

I often find that many of my practice members are amazed when I tell them that chiropractic is very beneficial for little humans.

Just like adults, our children have spines and nervous systems that also experience bumps and falls, and it's even more important for them to get checked as their bodies grow at such a rapid pace.

A baby's brain for instance grows doubles in size during it's first year of life. How cool is that?

It's all about setting solid foundations for our children, so that as they grow, their body's and nervous system can't adapt to their ever changing environments

💪LETS GET TO THE CORE OF IT💪

Your core muscles, are the main stabilisers of your trunk. When performing any activity, your core must activate to help prevent injury to your back and surrounding structures.

It is so important to the structure and function of our body that it is comprised of 4 main muscle groups including:
-abdominal muscles (front/sides)
-paraspinal and gluteal muscles (back)
-diaphragm (roof)
-pelvic floor muscles (base)

How does this relate to chiropractic?🧠

When working properly, our brains are accurately able to tell our deep core muscles to activate so that our backs are protected from the forces we may put onto it. If not engaged properly, or if we are in pain, there can be a delay in the information sent from the brain, meaning that the large superficial muscles of our spine has to take over. This creates uneven loading into our spines, which often leads to injury.🚨

As chiropractors, we are trained to analyse whether the muscles within your body are firing properly, and if not, to encourage them to do so with adjustments, or with utilising certain exercises.

These two lovely ladies have been with me since the start of my time . They are a beautiful mother/daughter duo who always come in with smiles and understand the magic of a chiropractic adjustment.

I don't know about you, but sometimes I am not so subtly reminded by my body/mind/life that I need a break.

It's so easy to get caught up in our "to-do" lists that we forget to stop and take a moment to just rest.

Classic coming from the Canadian, I know...

But please never feel the need to apologize to us if you need a moment to express your emotions. To release tension in your body that you have been storing.

We see you as the beautiful humans you are 💗

-As the tired mums needing a space to tell us that you're struggling with your new routine

-As the overwhelmed university student studying for your 6th straight exam in 2 weeks

-As the overworked nurse on your 4th day of 12 hour shifts at the hospital

When a chiropractor checks your spine, we are trying to get an idea of how your body is under stress to be better able to help your nervous system function better.

We utilize various indicators to help us interpret where your body needs a bit of help so that we can adjust you safely and specifically.

I am Dr. Cassie McLeod, your Canadian chiropractor residing in the beautiful Canterbury plains of New Zealand.

I graduated from the prestigious New Zealand College of Chiropractic in 2022, where I studied my Bachelor of Chiropractic for 5 years. In addition to Chiropractic, I am also a qualified massage therapist having completed my massage training in Canada in 2016.

My passion is to ignite the magic that resides within us to flourish by encouraging our nervous systems to function at their best.

When I am not in the clinic serving my community, you can find me out in the mountains or trails with my dog, Pip.
