Measles is circulating in New Zealand. If you feel you have been exposed to measles, please do not come into the practice - give us a call instead. If you were born in NZ before 1969, you are considered immune. Two measles vaccinations protect about 99% of people. The vaccine is free for under 18s and for adults eligible for funded care. Not sure if you've had 2 doses? We can help check and catch up if required.

From 13 February, you may need to pay for COVID-19-related visits to your healthcare provider.
If you are at risk of becoming very sick with COVID-19 you will still get free healthcare.

With the Omicron variant circulating, most people can recover at home. This is due to very high vaccination levels and widespread natural immunity.

Additionally, with easy access to testing and self-isolation, we can focus on those who are more vulnerable.

People eligible for free healthcare
If you are at higher risk of becoming very sick with COVID-19, you are still eligible for free healthcare from your doctor.

This protects those who are most at risk of getting very ill from COVID-19, including:

people with high-risk medical conditions
Māori
Pacific peoples
people with disabilities
those over the age of 65
anyone else that meets the criteria for access to antiviral medicines.

One of our beautiful, kind hearted nurses is retiring on Wednesday! We wish you well Liz, you will be greatly missed at Tinwald Medical Centre by patients and staff alike. We do look forward to hearing what you get up to in this next chapter in your life!!

15/12/2022

Hi everyone, - we have seen a large increase in the number of patients leaving messages for our nurses. We wanted to remind patients that these messages are triaged, and returned in order of urgency. This may mean that if your call is not urgent, it may not be returned. For this reason it is important to state your reason for calling on your message. If you have had any tests, if the results are normal for you, you will not be rung. We ask for your help and understanding.

Merry Christmas to all our lovely patients!
