Might be helpful for some families!

We are excited to announce our new Flying Kites online event series, "Making Sense of the System", which is a free set of conversations designed to help people navigate the disability system - in particular, those with Individualised Funding - and it kicks off this month on Thursday 21 March.

More and more, we are meeting people who have never had the basics of the disability sector explained to them. It is really hard to get the best out of your support when you don’t understand what it is and how it works.

EVENT SCHEDULE
21 March - Navigating the Disability System
11 April - Individualised Funding (IF): Clarifying the Basics
02 May - Finding Great Staff
16 May - Preparing for a Needs Assessment
30 May - Planning for the Future

All events are free and suitable for disabled people, whānau and professionals throughout Aotearoa. RSVP via the link below to receive the zoom link and login details for each of the events.

Hello everyone!
Thanks so much for liking our awesome new page!
I thought it was time to introduce myself and my plans for Little Super Stars. Sorry if I go off on a tangent! It’s a topic I am very passionate about 💕
I’m Nikita, a Mum and musician born and raised in Ashburton.
My husband, step daughter and I have been living in Christchurch for the last few years where our family grew from three to five in a very short amount of time!
Our beautiful daughter was born with a condition that has meant weekly early intervention where her and I were lucky enough to be introduced to the world of music play/therapy!
Our son then decided to be born at 29 weeks gestation to keep us right on our toes!
Now that our wee ones aren’t needing the hospital as much we have decided it’s time to move back home so we can raise our children in Ashburton close to family.
Music play group sessions have been so beneficial for our children and when I learnt that there were none in Ashburton specifically for babies and children with diverse needs I knew this was exactly what I was meant to do!
I have been learning from the absolute best while here in Christchurch and I’m so excited to share this with Ashburton.
Little Super Stars will be offering weekly group (five children or less) music sessions where babies and children (plus a parent/caregiver) will get to sing songs, play instruments, dance/move, learn rhythms, melodies, and participate in a small group setting which for some can be a challenge in itself!
Our music play groups are for any baby or child who lives with developmental, sensory, learning or physical need including those caused from being born prematurely.
It doesn’t matter if your child is yet to have an official diagnosis as I know these things can take a long time.
Enrolments for term four will be opening within the next few weeks and I am so excited to get started!
We are a not for profit charitable trust and will be working from grants, donations and any funding we can get.
Please share our page around, the more awareness the better!
If you have any questions please don’t hesitate in contacting me on messenger or email littlesuperstarsnz@gmail.com
I have definitely gone off on a tangent so well done if you managed to read this whole post!!
Thanks for reading 💕
