As you may have heard, ManageMyHealth (MMH) has been involved in a cybersecurity incident where hackers accessed some of the health data stored in their system. We are committed to protecting our patients' privacy, and are in direct discussion with MMH to understand exactly which information relating to our patients has been affected. We will send an email update to all of our enrolled patients, including those who don't use MMH, over the age of 16 to update them on the situation.

This breach has now been addressed, and we are doing everything we can to get accurate, confirmed information so we can better support our patients.

MMH are contacting any affected patients directly via the email address used to register the account. Please be cautious of scams that could pop up - MMH won’t ask you to share passwords or verification codes, or demand urgent action.

For more information, there’s FAQs at https://managemyhealth.co.nz/faqs-cyber-breach/ and you can email support@managemyhealth.co.nz. If you have further concerns, you’re welcome to reach out to our team as well.

We know that this news has been distressing - we will continue to work closely with ManageMyHealth to ensure this is handled appropriately and with accountability.

While our GPs are always here to support you, we know that for minor health concerns, sometimes a quick, friendly alternative is useful! Habit Health runs clinics in Palmerston North and Feilding, and can help with physiotherapy, improving mobility and strength, pain management, and more. 💪

They’re ACC-registered with no referral needed, and even have a “money-back promise” for some of their physio services. You can learn more at www.habit.health 😊

And just like that, for many of us, the holiday is almost over. Easing back into regular routines over the next few days can make life easier for both adults and kids.

Gradually move bedtimes earlier 😴, plan some simple, home-cooked meals 🍲, and set aside time to move your body each day 🚶‍♀️🚴‍♂️ It’s also a great time to check in on yourself - what do you want out of this year? Is there anything you’ve been putting off that should get sorted?

Especially if it’s health-related, we’re here to help if you need it.

New Year’s is always a fun time, let’s make sure it stays that way!

You’ll often hear people talk about "sleeping it off," but when someone has had too much to drink, sleeping can be dangerous. Alcohol poisoning is a medical emergency, here are the signs to look out for:

✅ Confusion: They are very groggy or unable to be woken up.
✅ Vomiting: Especially while unconscious.
✅ Seizures: Shaking or fitting.
✅ Breathing: Slow (less than 8 breaths a minute) or irregular.
✅ Cold, clammy, pale, or bluish skin.

⚠️ IMPORTANT: You do not need to see all of these signs for it to be life-threatening.

What to do:
📞 Call 111 immediately. Do not wait.
👬🏽 Stay with them. Never leave them alone to "sleep it off."
↪️ Turn them on their side. This is the recovery position and helps prevent choking if they vomit.
♨️ Keep them warm, as alcohol lowers body temperature.
❌ Don’t give them coffee, put them in a cold shower or try to walk them around.

Look after your mates and whānau. If in doubt, make the call.

You might have spotted a new healthcare centre being built on Main Street in Palmerston North. The Group Medical practice has been growing for some time, and they need a larger space to keep supporting their patients’ needs.

We hope to open this new centre in April 2026, and it will have an expanded scope of services, including acute care, women’s health, mental health and wellbeing, physiotherapy, and a community infusion clinic.

This centre will also provide opportunities for GPs who are finishing their training to learn from our experienced doctors, making sure we play our part in future-proofing healthcare services.

Nothing will change for our Ashhurst Health Care patients - we will continue to offer excellent services from our existing premises. We're just proud to share our colleagues' good news!

Now’s the perfect time to check that your prescriptions are up to date - don’t leave it to the last minute!

You can request repeats easily through Manage My Health, or by calling us and leaving a message on the prescription line. This helps avoid the end of year rush and means your regular medicines will be ready before we close. 🩺📱

Spring in Manawatū means more pollen in the air and for folks with asthma 💨 or other respiratory conditions, that can be really troublesome!

If you, your child, or your parent has been coughing more, using an inhaler more often, or just isn’t feeling quite right, it’s a good time for a quick check-in. We can review your asthma plan and talk through any questions to help you breathe easy through the season.
