Athenree Life offers its residents quality Rest Home services including Hospital, Memory Care, Respite and Day Care by the sea.

We offer our residents a home by the sea, in a truly beautiful setting where they receive quality care and support enabling them to live as independently as possible while enjoying spacious rooms, professionally prepared food and various activities. We are proudly part of Sound Care Group, with five homes in New Zealand offering holistic nursing care for older people, including one that offers care for differently abled younger people as well.

A beautiful sunny day brought everyone together outdoors to celebrate the season. The afternoon was filled with dance numbers from our staff, a dance and special song from our residents, and an impromptu performance from our whānau all bringing smiles and warmth.

With sunshine, delicious food, fun moments, and live music from the Athenree Boys Band, it was a relaxed and joyful Christmas celebration shared with residents, families, and staff.

What is a C.A.R.E. Champion?

Every day in our homes, amazing people quietly create moments of comfort, connection, and genuine care.
A C.A.R.E. Champion is someone who brings our values of Competence, Authenticity, Respect, and Empathy to life in everything they do.

This year is the very first time Sound Care Group is honouring these extraordinary individuals. Across all facilities, residents, families, and staff submitted nominations to recognise team members who consistently go above and beyond. From these heartfelt nominations, each home selected one C.A.R.E. Site Winner, the person who best represents our Culture of Care.
At the end of the year, from all site winners we will choose the Sound Care Group C.A.R.E. Champion 2025.

🏆Athenree Life – Site C.A.R.E. Winner 2025: Biji Samson

Biji stands out for her authenticity and reliability. She shows up each day exactly as she is genuine, positive, and fully committed to her role and this consistency is what makes her such a valued presence at Athenree Life.
She is known for her cheerful attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to support both residents and colleagues without hesitation. Biji works calmly and efficiently, manages her time exceptionally well, and helps keep shifts running smoothly making a real difference to the wider team.
In her interactions with residents, she is patient, respectful, and unhurried. She takes the time to ensure residents feel comfortable and happy, approaching her care with sincerity rather than routine. Her respectful manner and natural warmth help residents feel at ease and genuinely cared for.

Through her dependable nature, teamwork, and authentic approach to care, Biji consistently demonstrates Competence, Authenticity, Respect, and Empathy. We are proud to recognise her as the 2025 Site C.A.R.E. Champion for Athenree Life.
