We offer our residents a home by the sea, in a truly beautiful setting where they receive quality care and support enabling them to live as independently as possible while enjoying spacious rooms, professionally prepared food and various activities. We are proudly part of Sound Care Group, with five homes in New Zealand offering holistic nursing care for older people, including one that offers care for differently abled younger people as well.

We joined in the fun with red noses, bright smiles, and even brighter hearts; all to support the wellbeing of children across Aotearoa. By giving kindness and taking part, we reminded ourselves that laughter, joy, and compassion are powerful tools for connection...no matter your age.

🌕 International Moon Day 2025

Did you know? On July 20, 1969, the world watched in awe as humans first set foot on the moon...a moment etched in collective memory.

In our home, we marked this day with stories, reflections, and wonder. For many of our residents, it sparked vivid memories of where they were, who they were with, and the dreams they carried.

The moon reminds us of how far we’ve come as a world and as individuals. 🌙

🇫🇷 Bastille Day 2025

Its not necessary to have strong ties to the French heritage. We just embraced the spirit of Bastille Day as a chance to learn, laugh, and celebrate culture.

The essence of “Vive la vie”... long live life. This rang true as we danced, dined, and delighted in each other’s company.

As winter begins to soften, we honour the resilience of the human spirit and the beauty of shared celebration.

🍫 World Chocolate Day 2025 Last week, we savoured the sweet tastes of different chocolates and celebrated the comfort, memories, and connection it brings.

Chocolate is a favourite treat and also a symbol of friendship, a moment of comfort, and a sweet reminder of life’s simple joys.

From laughter-filled tastings to heartfelt storytelling, it was a day that melted hearts as much as it did chocolate. 💛

In the heart of the longest night, we came together to share something brighter than the sun — our aroha. ✨❄️

Our Midwinter Party filled the space with laughter, warmth, and sparkle. It was a time to reconnect, dress up, share kai, and remind one another that aroha can outshine even the coldest winter.

Through every shared smile, every moment of music and movement, we felt the strength of being together.

The rising of Matariki and Puanga is a highlight of our month. This brought our homes together in reflection, renewal, and unity. 🌌✨

This special time is not just about looking to the stars, but looking within — to remember those we’ve lost, to celebrate who we are, and to set intentions for how we move forward.

We rose together through shared stories, quiet remembrance, and meaningful connection. In rising together, we honour the past and light the path ahead.

💜 World Elder Abuse Awareness Day 2025 💜

last week we marked this day with a firm reminder that every elderly person deserves dignity, respect, and protection. In Aotearoa, it’s estimated that over three-quarters of elder abuse cases occur within trusted relationships such as family or friends.

In our homes, we wore aroha, held kindness circles, and shared resources to “spot the signs” — a powerful How to: recognize unexplained injuries, sudden withdrawal, or loss of voice

It was a collective pledge to honour and safeguard our kaumātua, affirming that they are valued, heard, and safe. 💜

Let’s continue to build a community where every older person is protected and celebrated.

At the beginning of this month, we paused to mark the King’s Birthday 👑✨ — not just as a public holiday, but as a moment to reflect on legacy, service, and unity.

For many of our residents, the monarchy represents chapters of history they’ve lived through — times of change, tradition, and continuity.

In our homes, we celebrated not just a figurehead, but the values of dedication, leadership, and care for others — values we see daily in those who walk quietly beside us.

Whether royal or not, we all have the power to lead with kindness.

Last month, we acknowledged this day — a reminder that every person carries their own mountains.

Last month, we raised our cups in celebration of World Tea Day — a warm reminder that connection often begins with something as simple as a shared brew. 🍵💬

For our DRT team, tea holds special meaning.
The roots of meaningful activities in aged care trace back to the humble work of “tea ladies” — women who, in offering a cup of tea, also offered companionship, conversation, and comfort. 💛👵🏽

From those quiet moments grew a whole profession centred on wellbeing, dignity, and human connection.

Today, we honour that legacy — one cup, one conversation, one connection at a time. ✨🤝
