Happy New Year to you all ✨

Someone asked me yesterday what my resolutions were…
And my first thought was simply: “Bring it on - I’m heading up.”

What I meant was this:
When you commit to working on yourself - your nervous system, your inner landscape, your awareness - life naturally starts to shift. You don’t need a long list of resolutions. You start moving upward because you’re aligned.

One breath, one choice, one small moment of awareness at a time.

This year, may you rise gently.
Not by force, but by clearing space, listening inward, and allowing your system to find balance again.

Because when you regulate, you elevate.

As I look back on this year, it’s been one of the biggest seasons of transition I’ve ever moved through.
A new city. A new home for my family. A new practice. Monthly trips to Auckland. Continued study. And, woven through all of that, some deep personal work that I genuinely needed to walk through.

I often say to clients that change begins when we choose to trust the process and this year, I had to practise exactly that. I implemented plans. I worked through my own barriers. I wobbled at times, of course. But I kept trusting.

What I know now is this: when you’re clear on your long-term direction, every opportunity, challenge, pause and pivot becomes part of the bigger picture of growth and fulfilment.

I’m deeply grateful - to my mentors, my training, and every client who has been part of this chapter. You’ve each shaped my path in your own way.

Moving cities and beginning again has challenged me, stretched me and allowed me to evolve. And now, as I look toward 2026 and year two of life in Whanganui, I’m excited. Grounded. Ready for what unfolds next.

At NEKAWA, I often remind clients that wellbeing isn’t something you earn by doing more.
It’s not something you chase, achieve or tick off a list.
True wellbeing is internal.
It’s about turning inward, listening to yourself and trusting what you hear.

And for many, even the idea of going inward can create anxiety - because slowing down means meeting the thoughts, sensations and emotions that have been carefully held at bay.
This is completely human.
When your system has been running on alert, the invitation to “go within” can feel unfamiliar or even unsafe.
That’s why wellbeing isn’t about forcing yourself to relax or demanding calm.
It’s about creating a space where your nervous system can soften at its own pace… where you can reconnect with yourself gently, without pressure.

Wellbeing begins with the smallest shift:
A breath you actually feel.
A moment where you allow your shoulders to drop.
A simple recognition of “this is where I am today.”

From that place, inner balance becomes possible.
Not by doing more but by allowing more of you to come forward.

I was recently listening to Daryl Gove speak and he said so perfectly, “Hypnosis is not a replacement for medicine... You can only heal what you can feel.”

This is so true, with my clients healing begins with awareness - tuning into your body, your emotions and the signals you’ve been taught to ignore.

You can’t stay disconnected and expect healing to happen.

The body speaks - sometimes quietly, sometimes through discomfort - guiding you toward what needs your attention.

When you reconnect, listen and allow yourself to feel, true healing begins from within.

Healing isn’t about replacing; it’s about reconnecting.
