Your “Dopamine Menu” — Small Choices, Big Impact 🧠✨
In a world where burnout and overwhelm are common, we often wait for motivation to come before taking action. But what if we flipped that?
This “Dopamine Menu” is a simple, evidence-informed way to support your mood, energy, and focus by intentionally choosing activities that nourish your brain.
Think of it like this:
• Appetizers = quick resets (5 minutes can shift your state more than you think)
• Entrees = meaningful, energising activities that build long-term wellbeing
• Sides = ways to make everyday tasks more enjoyable
• Desserts = instant gratification (helpful in moderation)
• Specials = intentional treats that give you something to look forward to
As psychologists, we often remind clients that motivation follows action—not the other way around. Small, manageable behaviours can gently activate your system and improve mood over time.
💡 Try this:
Pick 1 “appetizer” when you feel stuck, or plan an “entrée” into your week. You don’t need to overhaul your life—just start small.
If you’re finding it hard to get started at all, that may be your mind and body asking for support—and that’s okay too. You don’t have to do it alone.
