Pleased to have facilitated a meeting between Communicare Chair Mike Matthews and Senior Minister Costello to discuss the incredible work Communicare is doing to support isolated seniors.

Communicare runs Friendship Centres across Auckland, including three right here in the Mt Roskill electorate:

🕊 Monday – Wesley Methodist Church Hall (Mt Roskill)
🕊 Thursday – Blockhouse Bay Baptist Church Hall
🕊 Thursday – St David’s in the Field (Hillsborough)

These centres offer seniors a warm, welcoming space to build friendships, have fun, and enjoy meaningful companionship.

Great to see senior leadership engaging in how we can better support and connect with our older residents.

Our manager, Mike Matthews, recently attended the Auckland Council Age-Friendly Symposium, an inspiring day of learning, sharing, and connection.

It was a powerful reminder of the importance of building inclusive communities where older adults feel supported, valued, and celebrated.
We’re proud to be part of the movement toward a more age-friendly Auckland!

Friendship Coordinator Training Day

We had a truly inspiring day of connection, learning, and growth at our recent Friendship Coordinator Training Day.

It was a wonderful opportunity to come together, share knowledge, and explore new ideas to better support our senior members.

A heartfelt thank you to our wonderful guest speakers from ASB Bank Community Bankers, Haumaru Housing and Hospice West Auckland . Your insights and expertise have empowered our coordinators with valuable skills to continue making a meaningful difference in the lives of our seniors.

Today we celebrate the wisdom, resilience, and contributions of older people in our communities. At Communicare, we believe every senior deserves connection, respect, and joy.

Our Friendship Centres across Auckland are places of belonging ,where seniors aged 65+ come together to share stories, laughter, and companionship. Whether it's a game, a shared meal, or a heartfelt conversation, our volunteers and staff are here to make every moment meaningful.
