First step into rehab and strength training is assessing what are the weak links. Then we work out what we need to focus on. It can be strength, mobility or stability. Usually, it’s all of them.

And this is when my clients say “Why do you always make me do the exercise I don’t like?” 😂😂

It’s not personal. It’s intentional. I intentionally select the exercises because you NEED them. It might be something you are not particularly good at doing them, that’s why you don’t like doing them - that’s why you are not good at them….yet!

6 years anniversary in NZ. 6 years of many PBs, some setbacks but always growing. Let’s take a journey back to see how far I’ve come with my training.

1. 5KG weighted pull ups
2. Bar pull ups 5 reps ➡️ 9 reps
3. Tricep Dips 3 reps ➡️ 9 reps
4. Trapbar Deadlifts 139kg for 1 ➡️ 142kg x 4 reps
5. Conventional deadlifts Max 1 rep 155kg
6. Back Squat 65kg ➡️ 105kg
7. Tore my ACL 🥲 ➡️ Rebuilding
8. Counterbalance squat ➡️ Zercher 70kg x 3
9. Romanian Deadlifts 45kg ➡️ 90kg x 8

Over the past 6 years, I’ve learnt that fitness is not always linear. The higher you want to achieve, the higher the risk. Injury can happen even to the strongest people. Setbacks can be an opportunity for you to learn and grow. Tearing my ACL has allowed me to grow so much as a rehab & strength coach. I am able to understand so much deeper what it’s like when you have lost muscle and having to regain it back again.

When I first got to NZ, I actually weighed around 60kg and now my weight fluctuates around 75-77kg. So there could be 10-17kg difference in weight in these videos. It’s quite interesting for me to see the changes in my body.

Happy to say that I feel wayyyyyy more comfortable AND stronger in my body now when I did 6 years ago being a lot lighter than I am now.

🏃🏾‍♀️I love working with mums for so many reasons. They always come in and they do not f$ck around, they are here to work and make the most of it because they don’t have a lot of time. 🏃🏾‍♀️

🏋️‍♀️Giving time just for themselves does not come freely, so I give kudos to all the mums that invest in their health and do the hard work. It can be a very emotional thing, feeling guilty to give yourself this time as well. 🏋️‍♀️

✨Reconnecting with the body is a big piece that I find very rewarding. It feels rewarding to be able to help a client reclaim something they thought they had lost. ✨

I had a mum client cried simply because they can finally feel their core muscles after 4 years since they had their baby. It seems simple, but it’s the simple connection that can rewire your whole system. ❤️

It is normal….? Most of the time if it doesn’t feel right, it’s probably not right and you should listen to it.

I often get clients saying “I’m old, it’s normal I feel my back” or “Don’t worry about the (insert issues), that’s just my body”.

What I say to that is, sure you might feeling your back or whatever pain normally in your daily life, but in our session, I want you to feel zero pain. Because if you are feeling pain, that is your body communicating that something is not right.

During the sessions with my clients, we work on training out old movement patterns that are causing pain. In order for your body to learn the new pain-free way to move, every rep needs to be pain-free. That’s how your nervous system learn and adapt to make that your new pattern. That’s how we get the body stronger.
