Im back updating this page as Christmas looms ever closer. Im developing the Xmas Grab Bag for Waiatarau Acute Mental Health Unit.

We’re excited to announce the formation of our new Accessibility Advisory Group (AAG). 🎉

We received more than 70 expressions of interest from people passionate about making New Zealand more accessible. After a careful review by an independent panel, we’ve brought together a diverse group of members with fresh ideas, lived experience, and expertise.

Their perspectives will help guide our Accessibility Work Programme, ensuring projects and initiatives reflect what matters most to the disability community.

Delivered a coffee plunger and delightful coffee to residents in Waiatarau Acute Mental Health Unit, along with chocolates for the Easter. Now something for Matariki. A wee bit late but just thought of it.

Possibly some more grab bags of toiletries and if the cupboard is bare, some warm socks and beanies.

Or some big print books for those staying a while and can concentrate on a chapter or two....hhhmm.

Any ideas?

Finally delivered my Grab Bags for Waiatarau Acute MH Unit. Put together for those local residents who end up unexpectedly at the Unit with no time to grab toiletries, or forgot their soap etc. Ten years now, wow...still just a small set up, nothing too much to handle.

Xmas coming up so Santa chocolates, new presents for residents at the Unit to gift wrap for their children..nieces/nephews- paper and sellotape supplied. Disposable cups with lids and 'grown up' sachets of Latte etc will be delivered so if you have anything to help me, very much appreciated.

Lets give a hug to a young person today, or an elder, someone who you see as having a caring soul who doesnt even realise their worth.... and utter these words to them, and explain what they mean and just how it fits with that person. Lets share the love.

Im looking forward to sending a delivery of toiletries to Waiatarau MH Unit. So pleased that I have a little funding. Because I havent sent out a large delivery since Xmas I"m really looking forward to being able to contribute to the needs of the patients.

Over the flood and cyclone periods, I was literally run off my feet helping out various people and organisations, especially those with Mental unwellness, and assisting those with disabilities. I still havent been told how things went for our disabled residents despite putting out feelers. I feel as though I am been told to move on..... its all in hand....... Wouldnt that be awesome, taking away a degree of vulnerability. Im not interested in working where people already are there contributing hard. But I am interested working where their knowledge of working with people with disabilities is thin on the ground.
