Another Lie. Debunked.
We’ve been told a million times that UV light is dangerous, harmful, and the reason skin cancer exists.
But if you’ve been here a while, you know we need sunlight, like fish need water.
Last week, we went on our very first family ski trip, two full days on the mountain. It was magical.
On day one, looking around at many people’s faces completely covered with scarves and goggles, I had a split-second panic. After all, the UV is stronger at high altitude, and the snow reflects light. But we are, just like on a normal day, completely bare-faced, no creams, no sunscreen, no moisturizer.
My inner knowing calmed me right down. UV is essential for a number of biological processes in us and is a great balancer of the blue light.
Eight hours later, nothing but happy, glowing faces. A little pink from the day, which turned into the most beautiful golden glow the next morning.
On day two, we did exactly the same, bare-faced, with goggles on and off throughout the day. By the end? More pink, more joy, and by the next day, just more golden glow.
Once again, it was living proof: we don’t need sun protection, but WE DO NEED PROTECTION FROM THE SUN.
If you’ve been scared of sunlight, I hope this story makes you pause… and maybe see things differently.
☀️ Here’s to embracing the sun and questioning everything you’ve been told.
Much love,
Alison 💛
