We are looking for participants who:
✅Are 18 years or older
✅Suspected or diagnosed mild traumatic brain injury within the last 12 months
✅Are a new patient of ABI Rehabilitation, Proactive, Active Plus, Habit Health concussion service clinics anywhere in New Zealand.

Mild traumatic brain injury (also known as concussion) can no longer be thought of as a short-term and a low cost problem.

👉🏽 Did you know.....

▪️95% of all TBI cases are classified as being mild severity.
▪️35% did not seek immediate medical attention following a TBI.
▪️Almost 70% of all TBI cases occur in people aged 35 years or younger.
▪️48% of adults experience persistent symptoms after sustaining a mild TBI.
▪️One in ten people will experience at least one further TBI within the following year.
▪️Due to the high number of mild TBIs, the total healthcare services costs attributable to mild TBI are 3 times higher than moderate and severe injuries in NZ.

We are currently recruiting eligible participants from Active+ concussion services. Ask your clinician for more information about the ACCESS study. We want to better understand concussion service users experiences and your recovery over time.

Did you know that there are an estimated 32,000 concussions in New Zealand every year? Often people ignore the signs that they could be concussed and with the beginning of the winter sports season there's no better time to talk about it.

If you think you or someone you know could be concussed, it’s important to seek help immediately. Here’s some of the signs to look out for:

⚫ Headaches
🔴 Seeing Stars and feeling dazed, dizzy or light headed
🔵 Nausea or vomiting
🟤 Feeling overly tired
🟣 Trouble remembering things
🟢 Difficulty concentrating or making decisions
🟡 Feeling irritable or anxious for no obvious reason
🟠 Sensitivity to bright light and/or loud or sudden noises
⚫ Difficulty with coordination or balance

Are you aged 18 years or older? Have you sustained a mild traumatic brain injury in the past 12 months? Are you currently a patient of ABI Rehabilitation concussion services in Auckland or Wellington? Take part in this study on the benefits of receiving specialist concussion services.

We want to learn if receiving appropriate treatment in a specialist concussion service helps patients to manage symptoms, improves their quality of life, and helps them to return to their usual activities earlier.
