Building relationships and connections with our young people.

Our Community Manager, , met with the Mapu Maia team and , a youth leader from Ōtara, to discuss the upcoming gambling awareness project “Lead with Love” ❤️

Gambling impacts many of our whānau, and this initiative is about raising awareness, encouraging safe conversations, and empowering our community to lead with love.

More than 500 people from communities across New Zealand came together at the Swaminarayan Complex in Papatoetoe a couple of weeks ago to celebrate Ranjna Patel’s appointment as a Dame Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit by King Charles III, one of the highest honours in this year’s King’s Birthday list.

It was a special night, with Dr Kanti Patel, Prime Minister Christopher Luxon and many other leaders, dignitaries, and community supporters joining the celebration.

Adding to the proud moment, some of our own team members, who have been part of Tāmaki Health’s journey since the early days of East Tāmaki Healthcare, were also there to honour Dame Ranjna’s incredible achievement.

The event was a powerful reminder of the huge impact Dame Ranjna has made as a business leader, community champion, and philanthropist, and of the deep respect she has earned across so many walks of life.

Congratulations Dr Slushna! Celebrating 30 Years with the LynnMall Medical Centre team 🎉🥂🎊

A couple of weeks ago, the team at LynnMall Medical Centre, one of our partner clinics, came together to celebrate Dr Slushna Weeramuni’s 30 years of service.
The occasion was marked with lunch, cake, and a light-hearted card filled with personalised life “prescriptions” just for her!
As a GP, Deputy Clinical Director at Tāmaki Health and a much-loved member of the LynnMall team, Dr Slushna has been an important part of our journey.
We’re so grateful for her dedication, and we look forward to celebrating many more milestones ahead.

Some of our Local Doctors Browns Road whānau joined in the spirit of Krishna Janmashtami over the weekend, dressing up in vivid outfits and bright smiles to celebrate the birthday of Lord Krishna.

This joyful festival is all about music, dancing, sharing sweets, and reminding us of the power of love, kindness, and the triumph of good over challenges.

It’s also a lovely reminder of why it’s so important to celebrate and share in each other’s cultures, bringing us closer together as a community.

Last week, our team from Local Doctors Ōtara Mall took some time to give a big shout-out and heartfelt thanks to their amazing Registered Nurse, Sushila Shankaran, who is celebrating 25 years with us.

Over the years, she’s cared for countless patients, who absolutely adore her, supported her teammates, and been a huge part of our organisation’s story.

CCCS Weymouth Youth 6wks Biggest Loser Challenge Season 2 - End of Challenge celebration 🥳🥳

Over the past seven weeks, CCCS Weymouth Youth has run its 6-Week Biggest Loser Challenge. Last Saturday evening, the church came together to celebrate the end of the challenge with a prizegiving.

Throughout the journey, it was uplifting to see participants giving their all, replacing old habits with healthier choices and supporting each other along the way.

A big shout-out to Rev. Senetenari Autagavaia, Ifopo Herina Taupule-Sului and the organising committee for delivering another successful challenge, your service is making a real difference.

Our Community Manager, Li'amanaia Lorenzo Kaisara attended the celebration on behalf of Local Doctors and was honoured to be the guest speaker for the evening.

Last week (Friday, 18th), the team at Local Doctors Dawson Road came together to celebrate Ranjna Patel and her incredible recognition as a Dame Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit. This honour, awarded over King’s Birthday weekend, acknowledges her outstanding service to ethnic communities, health, and family violence prevention.

It was a special occasion, made even more meaningful by the presence of her husband and co-founder, Kantilal Patel, and our CEO, Lloyd McCann, who joined the team for the celebration.

Ranjna and Dr. Patel co-founded what was then East Tamaki Healthcare in 1977. Local Doctors Dawson Road became their second clinic in 1991.

Ranjna’s dedication to the community and healthcare is truly inspiring. This award is a well-deserved recognition of everything she’s done and continues to do.
Congratulations once again, Dame Ranjna – we’re all so proud of you!
