Before I arrived at Keystone Lodge in early December 2023, I was at the lowest point of my life. Alcoholism had me. Entirely. As the disease reached into every single area of my life, I had no answers, and I could not lower my own standards fast enough. I was physically and emotionally broken—almost dying—trapped in a cycle I couldn’t escape on my own. The first photo shows me just a week before admission, and it’s hard even for me to look at now. The second photo was taken only two weeks after leaving Keystone Lodge.
Keystone Lodge was the right place for me with the right people at the right time. My time there was a turning point. Through a combination of care, structure and the right people coming into my life at exactly the right time, I had a foothold to move forward from. My own personal story from there is centred in 12 step recovery and the book Alcoholics Anonymous. Now approaching two years on I remain sober and well having managed to finally successfully adopt a recovery life and way of living that has given me a life worth living. I am a new father, fiancée and business owner and extremely blessed. R
