It’s Mental Health Awareness Week 💚

This week reminds us that wellbeing starts with small actions that make a big difference, connecting with others, giving back, being active, taking notice of what’s around us, and keeping our minds open to learning something new.

At Local Doctors, we believe mental health is just as important as physical health. That’s why we have a dedicated Wellness Support Team in our clinics to listen, guide, and support you when things feel heavy. This service is completely free for our enrolled patients.

Because taking care of your mind is part of taking care of your whole self 🌿

We had the best time at with the Aces & the hearts! The players spent the morning with local kids — learning cricket skills, decorating bat kits, laughing, and even dancing.

This family event is one of many, as Local Doctors continues to connect with and support the community. We love seeing our kids happy, active, and smiling! 💛

Celebrating 10 years of LIFE Community Kitchens serving and feeding our community.

We are humbled to partner with LIFE Community Kitchens in celebrating this milestone. Thank you for your years of service, we truly appreciate you and your amazing team.

To our community: you’re warmly invited to join the Ōtara Life Kitchens today for free kai and fun, at Te Puke Ōtara Hall. Bingo starts at 5:30pm, followed by dinner at 6:00pm. There will be live music and more for our whānau to enjoy 🙌🏽🥳

After nearly fifteen years at Papatoetoe Medical Centre, Dr Rama Velalagan and his team have now merged with Local Doctors Kolmar Road.
For patients, this means being part of a stronger network, access to more affordable consults, and care just a short 4-minute walk from the previous clinic to the new location on Kolmar Road.

Building relationships and connections with our young people.

Our Community Manager, , met with the Mapu Maia team and , a youth leader from Ōtara, to discuss the upcoming gambling awareness project “Lead with Love” ❤️

Gambling impacts many of our whānau, and this initiative is about raising awareness, encouraging safe conversations, and empowering our community to lead with love.

We look forward to this partnership with our amazing young people from Ōtara🌱❤️

More than 500 people from communities across New Zealand came together at the Swaminarayan Complex in Papatoetoe a couple of weeks ago to celebrate Ranjna Patel’s appointment as a Dame Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit by King Charles III, one of the highest honours in this year’s King’s Birthday list.

It was a special night, with Dr Kanti Patel, Prime Minister Christopher Luxon and many other leaders, dignitaries, and community supporters joining the celebration.

Adding to the proud moment, some of our own team members, who have been part of Tāmaki Health’s journey since the early days of East Tāmaki Healthcare, were also there to honour Dame Ranjna’s incredible achievement.

The event was a powerful reminder of the huge impact Dame Ranjna has made as a business leader, community champion, and philanthropist, and of the deep respect she has earned across so many walks of life.
