On Friday, we kicked off Double the Local at Ōtara Town Centre and what a beautiful start 🕺
We danced, laughed and shared kai with our kaumātua.
Double the Local | Rua te Rohe is a brand-new kaupapa from Total Healthcare PHO, in partnership with Local Doctors and the Ōtara-Papatoetoe Local Board. Together, we’re bringing free Zumba classes to the town centre every Monday, Wednesday + Friday, helping our older whānau stay active, social + connected.
Why Double the Local?
Because it’s all about two local forces coming together — and doubling the number of locals moving, connecting and uplifting our community.
At its heart, this kaupapa champions hauora, connection + kotahitanga — bringing more life into Ōtara while supporting local businesses.

Our lovely nurse Renny from Dawson Road gave us valuable advice on how to keep our community safe during the measles outbreak.

Measles is a dangerous and highly contagious virus — so please encourage your whānau, friends and tamariki to get vaccinated. Look after your loved ones.

If you think you’ve been in contact with someone who has measles, please stay home and call Health New Zealand’s Healthline for guidance.
