A small thought for the morning mirror.

There's a difference between accepting how your skin looks and understanding what's driving it.

The first one feels like maturity. The second one is actually maturity.

Acceptance without understanding is just resignation in better lighting.

Tired of what?

That's the question🖤

Four things to bring up at your next GP appointment.

If your skin has shifted and you've put it down to age, these are the conversations worth having before you accept that explanation.

Ask for a full ferritin number, not just whether you're 'in range'. The optimal level for skin repair is meaningfully higher than the floor of normal.

Ask whether your stress pattern, sleep, and energy are being read together, or as three separate complaints.

Ask where you sit on the perimenopause timeline. Even if your cycle is still regular, hormonal shifts often start years before the obvious signs.

And ask whether the fatigue, brain fog, and skin changes might be one conversation, not three.

Most women don't get told that all of this is connected.

It usually is 🖤

'It's just my age.'

It's the most common answer women give when their skin starts looking tired. It's also rarely the right one.

In clinic, when we look at why someone's skin has flattened, we don't start with creams or treatments. We start with three numbers.

Their cortisol pattern. Their ferritin level. And where they are in their hormonal timeline.

Each of those is measurable. Each of them is addressable. And each of them tells us something different about what your skin is actually doing.

Tired skin isn't a verdict. It's a report.

The useful question is what it's reporting on 🖤

One of the most common misconceptions about skin treatments is that stronger means better.

With Dermapen, it is actually the opposite.

The goal is not to aggressively treat the skin, but to create the right level of stimulation so the skin can respond in a healthy, controlled way. Too much, and the skin becomes inflamed. Too little, and nothing really changes.

To support this process, we incorporate Uber Peel Pro. It helps enhance cell turnover, refine the skin, and work in synergy with microneedling without overwhelming the barrier.

Results are not instant. They build gradually with consistency, and are always supported by the right home care.

If you have been thinking about improving your skin, you are welcome to come in for a consultation and see what approach would suit you best.

Good skin is rarely the result of one treatment. It comes from structure. A considered plan. The right treatments at the right time, supported by consistent home care and professional guidance.

When we take a strategic approach, we're not chasing trends. We're building a plan that works for your skin over time. Results follow consistency because consistency builds momentum.

If you're ready for a more intentional approach to your skin, book your complimentary consultation. Our registered nurses will create a plan tailored specifically to you.

Skincare does not have to stay the same all year round.

We can adjust certain ingredients depending on the season, and retinol is a good example.

For those with sensitive skin or skin that is more reactive to sun exposure, autumn and winter can be a comfortable time to introduce vitamin A into a routine.
UV levels are lower, we are generally spending less time in direct sun, and the skin has more space to gradually adjust. This does not replace daily sunscreen, but it can make the adjustment period more comfortable.

For beginners or more reactive skin types, our nurses often suggest O Cosmedics Retinoic Oil as a gentler starting point, used as part of a routine designed around your skin.

You do not have to avoid retinol if your skin is sensitive. It is often about choosing the right formula, the right strength, and the right timing.

If you are unsure how to adjust your routine seasonally, our team can guide you through it.

HIFU is a non invasive treatment that can support firmness and contour in the appearance of the skin. What you do between sessions plays a meaningful role in how long the visible effect lasts.

Supporting natural lymphatic flow can help reduce the look of puffiness and maintain definition. Gentle facial massage or gua sha can support a feeling of circulation and contour. Being mindful of salt and alcohol can also help with the appearance of puffiness.

Daily sunscreen and a considered skincare routine help protect your skin from environmental factors that contribute to visible ageing.

Maintenance also matters. A structured plan every 12 to 18 months can help build on your previous sessions rather than starting again.

If you are unsure what that looks like for you, ask our team at your next visit and we can talk it through.

I say this to my clients all the time.

Your skin is not something you only think about when there is a breakout or a flare up. It is something you look after consistently, the same way you would your general wellbeing.

The outcomes I see clients most happy with are usually not from one treatment. They come from having a plan, staying consistent, and adjusting as the skin changes over time.

There is no rush and no quick fix. Just considered care at the right time, supported by good home care.

If you have been feeling unsure about where to start, or what your skin actually needs, let us talk it through properly at a consultation. Jay 🖤

Pigmentation is one of the most misunderstood skin concerns we see in clinic.

Not all dark spots are the same, and not all approaches work the same way. Melasma, post inflammatory hyperpigmentation, and sun damage each behave differently, which means they often require different strategies.

One of the most common patterns we see is over treating. Stronger does not always mean better. Aggressive products can increase inflammation, and inflammation can contribute to more melanin activity in the skin.

Consistency, barrier support, and daily sunscreen are non negotiable when managing pigmentation. UV exposure stimulates melanin even on cloudy days, which is why protection is just as important as correction.

The appearance of pigmentation can be improved with the right plan, but it requires patience and a considered combination of in clinic services and home care, following consultation.

If you are unsure what type of pigmentation you have, start with a professional assessment with our nurses before layering products.

Save this for later, and share it with someone who needs to see it 🖤
