Kia Ora everyone, my name is Gareth and my background is in clinical exercise physiology (CEP).
A little bit about me - I competed heavily in judo throughout my adolescence years. My interest in competing at a high level drew me into studying Exercise Science at AUT. Towards the end of my undergrad I started learning more about how exercise can help people manage/rehabilitate their chronic condition. This made me want to learn more and after talking to a few different people I was guided to the University of Aucklands postgrad CEP program. Two gruelling years later and I came out of this program with a Master’s degree.
Many people don’t know what CEPs do, but many people know exercise is helpful to improve health outcomes.
As a CEP I provide inidividualised and specialised exercise interventions and lifestyle education for people across a wide spectrum of health, from the apparently heathy to those with diagnosed conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, stroke, COPD, movement and neuromuscular disorders to name a few.
