***SCHOOL HOLIDAY MUSIC LESSONS***

This school holiday we are offering the opportunity to kick start your musical journey. We are offering 5 lessons in 5 days in a one to one or two person* setting in the following skills: guitar playing, DJing, and music production.

Learning a new instrument can be extremely frustrating, we get it. It can be stop/ start, often a week or two between lessons. Progress can be slow. The intensity of 5 lessons in 5 days allows for immediate reinforcement of the previous day's learning before expanding on it with new learning so by the end of the week you will have a solid base and the impetus with which to continue your journey.

There are many apps and online tutorials which are brilliant at demonstrating many skills. Where we can help is with in person hands-on direction to ensure you have sound fundamentals which will better equip you to carry on learning from those apps and tutorials.

*If you sign up a sibling for the same lessons they are half price.

Guitar - 5 x 40 minute lessons $200 (9 years +)
The guitar can be an intimidating instrument. We will help you learn some of the fundamental chords that are going to enable you to play a lot of your favourite songs as well as support your creativity if you are an aspiring songwriter. We will spend time ensuring that you have the skills to read guitar tabs and follow online instructions so you can continue your guitar journey at your own pace.

DJ - 5 x 40 minute lessons $200 (12 years +)
The skills that were once required to DJ have changed an awful lot over the last 10 or 15 years due to advancements in technology. Whilst many would argue that those technological developments have made things easier there are fundamental elements to DJing that still require understanding and lots of practise and when done well differentiate the good from the average. We will teach you those fundamental skills that travel well across most DJ platforms. You will get access to playing vinyl records on turntables, club standard DJ media players, and controllers that make your iPhone or iPad the hub of your setup.
We will show you where you can source your music and advise on what equipment may suit you best if you pursue your DJing journey.

Music Production - 5 x 40 minute lessons $200 (12 years +)
Maybe you can already play guitar or even DJ, but you now want to make your own songs. Advances in technology and user-friendly apps mean that most of us via our iPhones and iPads are carrying music making software that is intuitive, powerful and free.
We will teach you the fundamental skills of how to navigate these pieces of software which are universal in their use and application and the hardware you can use alongside them.
We will show you how to make your iPhone/ iPad or laptop the hub of your studio and how to use them alongside electric guitars/ microphones/ electric drum kits and keyboards.

Our work enables us to work with many amazing and talented young people who ordinarily don’t get the opportunity to use music making equipment. This cover was a collaborative project lead by one such young man using GarageBand on iPad. After some guitars and drums were laid down he used the software to play the strings and bass, before topping it off with a James Hetfield esque vocal. It came out alright 🤟🔈

Getting out of the without spending. Is there a more impossible task😩😩I was more than happy to part with cash once I saw these Beatles guitar picks though. They’re perfect for a new term of guitar and ukulele lessons. Songs currently being taught by artists including and 👌

This is how we roll at Springboard. The mobile studio packed a treat. A great space with a great crowd made for nice beats.

Thanks to Auckland Council creative communities for their ongoing support and making this possible.

We’re really delighted to announce that we have received a grant from Auckland Council creative communities scheme that is going to enable us to provide our service to two groups close to our heart here in Warkworth. From July onwards we will be at both Springboard and Adults in Motion (A.I.M.) Inc for a couple of days a week using music creation as a means of developing trust based relationships to encourage expression and creativity. I can’t wait work with our next generation of music creators 🔊🔊

The iPad and GarageBand are the hub of our music making. Complimented with the right applications the touchscreen devices are accessible in use and limitless in terms of creativity.

The Launchpad is an accessible creation tool that can be played from your lap. It triggers loops and one shots of pre programmed samples, keeping them in time, allowing the most inexperienced of users to mix and match as they choose to create unique and great sounding rhythms.

Making music creation opportunities and equipment accessible to young people is at the very core of what we wish to achieve. DJing and playing with beats is a great introduction music for those who haven’t had the opportunity to learn an instrument.
