Summer’s brightness is softening… the evenings feel a little cooler, the light a little gentler. Autumn invites us to slow down 🍂

On Sunday 2 March • 6:30pm I’ll be guiding a 2-hour Autumn Yin Yoga Journey at Koukoulee wellness Oneroa — a practice designed to help you transition from the outward energy of summer into the quieter, reflective months ahead.

🔸What is Yin yoga?
Unlike dynamic styles of yoga, Yin is slow, still, and meditative. We softly settle into shapes for several minutes at a time, gently working into the deeper layers of the body — the fascia, joints and connective tissue, rather than the muscles.

🔸Why fascia?
Fascia is the body’s continuous web of connective tissue that surrounds and links every muscle, bone and organ. It responds best to slow, sustained load and time — not force.
The Yin poses are chosen to intelligently stress and stimulate the body, the mind-body connection is reinforced, the tissues hydrate and become more resilient. This is why Yin can feel deeply releasing in a way stretching alone often doesn’t — instead of pushing, we allow the body to unwind from the inside out.

🔸How I guide your practice
My Yin classes weave together long holds and periods of rebound with mindfulness and gentle awareness practices. Rather than “doing” the pose, you’re invited to observe sensation, breath and subtle shifts in the body. This is where the real change happens — the nervous system softens, the mind quietens, and the body feels safe enough to let go.

This extended session will allow you to journey deep into your body, it includes long holds, breath awareness, rest, and a closing relaxation — a seasonal reset for body and mind.

After last year’s Ultimate Sparkle Disco Nap, Martha Slimm and I are bursting to bring it back — a little longer, a little deeper, and with some optional guided stretches at the end to help soothe those tired, danced-out bodies.

Huge thanks to all the generous souls who donated gifts again this year for the Waiheke Budgeting Trust. These will be shared with members of our island community who need a little extra support at this time of year.

It felt really special to come together on the mat and dedicate our practice to the gift recipients, and to anyone having a tough time or affected by the many difficult events happening around the world.

Yoga is so much more than a physical practice. It’s easy to focus on our own growth and transformation, but moments like this are a reminder of the wider ripples our practice can create beyond ourselves.

There’s so much goodness in community — this is why I love Waiheke 🏝️💕

It’s that time of year again 🎄☀️💝🎁

Next Monday 15 December let’s come together in support of the Waiheke budgeting trust and the most vulnerable members of our island community.
• Free - Koha class (donations of new unwrapped gifts)
• 10:10am @ Koukoulee Oneroa
• 60min Yin / Yang practice

Your small gift donation will be passed on to local families who could use a little extra care this season.

Think of items such as:
Toiletries and self-care treats

Children’s books, toys or games

Nice chocolates or pantry treats

Cosy socks, notebooks, small gifts
Please bring new, unwrapped item(s) with you and we’ll make sure it gets to Waiheke Budgeting Services in time for their Christmas care packages.. We will be collecting all week and until the 16th of December so you can drop off when it suits you.

It’s a gentle way to move, breathe and reset — while spreading some Christmas kindness in our own backyard. 💛

It’s been a while since our last Big Monday Melt — the last one was deep in winter — and I’m so excited to return with a spring-inspired yin journey to celebrate renewal, lightness, and new growth inspired by the wood element.

This one is extra special: my dear friend and favourite collaborator Martha will be joining, bringing her beautiful live handpan music to gently guide us into deep rest and spacious stillness.

Part of the joy of travelling these few months is to drop in and experience yoga schools and communities along the way. This morning I fell in love with a space so calm, beautiful and grounding at the in Lucca (Tuscany) a beautifully led slow and crystal clear bilingual practice, with emphasis on the breath, the distant sound of piano and the old town waking up. When Yoga trainings lead to serendipitous meet ups on the other side of the world ♥️ the wonderful .shiatsu welcomed us for an olive oil tasting at the incredible estate in Chianti. We were blown away by the hospitality, the flavours, the passion and care for the land and sustainable practices meaning there is no waste from the olives, everything is used and incredibly flavourful.

This was the quote I shared at the end of the heart centered practice I guided this morning.

Over the past month the wonderful Mel from has trusted me to guide a weekly online class for the lovely and inspiring members of her online community. This was something new and outside my comfort zone, and I loved the growth and inspiration that it brought.

The reason Yoga is not just another physical practice is that it brings us back home to our true selves and it reconnected me with my purpose. And while I loved the challenge of creating sequences suitable for this new audience, it was facilitating this moment of joyful connection through movement that really nourished my soul. I got to feed the flame of my own heart candle and also be the mirror for these beautiful souls to shine bright which is a privilege.
