Good morning everyone,

Here is bit of an update on the Rapid Antigen Testing (RAT) scenario in Pharmacies right now.

The MOH is behind in getting the stock out to Pharmacies and even though we placed our order before the deadline we have not received any testing stock yet.

However here are some points & FAQs to note:

We are only allowed to perform this test on :-
Unvaccinated, asymptomatic individuals who need it for travel purposes.

1. Upon arrival: You will be screened and will need to wear a mask. Present your exemption card if you have a mask exemption.

2. If eligible you will be asked to wait outside the Pharmacy until a staff member is ready for you. You will need to be patient with us as on top of our regular Pharmacy services we are also having to handle the Vaccine Pass and soon the Rapid Antigen Tests. We are also a Covid Vaccination Site.

3. Under the guided supervision of a trained staff member you will be asked to do a nasal self swab. These are NOT as deep as the one you may have had done at the testing stations and Medical Centres. So don’t panic. It just goes 2cm up your nostrils 😊

4. You do not need to wait at the pharmacy. You will be notified via txt message. ( That’s hoping MOH will have our reporting system login sorted soon).

NB: It cannot be paid for privately. I believe MOH is working on something for the general population next year where something may be available to buy from Pharmacies for asymtomatic screening.

We have a handful of appointments available tomorrow for the Pfizer Covid -19 Vaccine at Unichem Papakura Pharmacy. This is for 1st or second dose only. Booster is not available yet. Please email us at dispensary@ unichempapakura.co.nz, call 09 298 5303 or pm on FB if you would like to book in.

Unichem Papakura Pharmacy will reopen tomorrow, the 17th of September.
At this stage we will be operating with half the usual staff and hoping the rest of the team will join later in the day as the remaining results come through. All results that have come through have thankfully been negative so far.
Please allow us time to catch up with the work that has piled up from yesterday and today before coming in to collect your meds, unless it’s urgent.
