Welcome to my class 'Yoga for Vitality'

This class is about replenishing energy levels and building resilience to everyday stressors - not by doing more, but by slowing down, tuning in, and moving with intention.

Through steady, breath-led movement and grounding practices, you’ll build strength, mobility and balance, nourish your nervous system, and reconnect with your inner energy.

Vitality isn’t about pushing or striving; it’s about cultivating steadiness, resilience, and a deeper sense of connection to yourself. This class supports you in feeling more alive, centred, and at ease, both on and off the mat.

Suitable for all levels, especially those seeking a practice that restores rather than depletes.

Come with me to the south coast of Sri Lanka, where time slows down and the ocean is just a few steps away. We’ll be staying at Villa de Zoysa, a beautiful colonial home full of character, calm, and coastal charm.

This retreat is a chance to truly rest — to breathe deeply, move gently, and reconnect with yourself. Each day includes steady, breath-led yoga, delicious nourishing food, and plenty of time to relax, explore, or simply be.

I’m so delighted that my dear friend Jane Craggs will be joining us too. Jane brings such a grounded, wise presence and will be helping to hold the space so you feel truly supported and cared for throughout the week.

If you’re craving calm, clarity, and a soft space to land — we’d love to welcome you.

16–22 November 2025

When was the last time you truly paused?

Not just a quick sit-down between tasks, not a scroll through your phone, but a real pause. The kind where your breath deepens, your shoulders soften, and your nervous system begins to settle.

It’s so easy to stay in “go” mode. We live in a world that often celebrates busyness and being productive is equated with success - rest is something we feel we have to earn.

But always doing can leave us feeling disconnected, anxious, and depleted.

The pause, a real pause, can feel unfamiliar at first. But it’s also deeply human. It’s in that space between doing where we remember who we are. We come back to our breath, our body, our clarity. We reconnect with what actually matters.

And that’s the heart of it - we’re not just resting to escape the busy, we’re resting to restore our ability to be present, to feel, and to make choices that support our well-being. Read more in my blog about this:

I’ve always been drawn to the ways yoga can support women’s health through all the changes, transitions, and seasons we move through in life.

One of my favourite things to teach is prenatal yoga. There’s something so special about creating space for expectant parents to slow down, connect with their breath, and feel more at ease in their changing bodies. It’s gentle, grounding, and deeply nourishing; it's such a privilege to be part of that journey.

I teach two prenatal yoga classes a week from my home studio in Auckland. It’s a cosy, calm space where you can move, breathe, and just be — no pressure, no expectations.

If you or someone you know is expecting and looking for a bit of support, I’d love to welcome you.

Yoga practice doesn’t stop when you roll up your mat.

It shows up in all the little ways you care for yourself, the quiet rituals that help you feel more steady, more you.

For me, it’s simple things that make the biggest difference.
Like walking in nature with my dog, Lily 🐕 — just the two of us (three when Finn 🐶 is old enough to join us , fresh air, trees, and space to breathe.
Making meals that nourish me - lots of good protein, whole foods, and at thi time of year, something warm, something grounding.
And taking a few moments each morning to pause, breathe, and feel grateful. It doesn’t take long, but it really shifts the tone of my day.

None of this is fancy.
But it helps me feel calm, connected, and more present in my life — and that, to me, is yoga too.

What are the little things that support you beyond the mat? I’d love to hear.

Do you ever feel like life just keeps speeding up?
Like there’s hardly a moment to pause, let alone rest properly?

I meet so many thoughtful, capable people who give so much of themselves — to their work, their families, their communities — and yet, underneath it all, they’re completely depleted. The outside might look fine, but inside they’re running on empty.

This course in Auckland is an invitation to step away from that pace. To soften. To rest — not just physically, but in your whole being. It’s a chance to remember what it feels like to move through your days with more steadiness, to feel nourished rather than depleted.

It’s especially for yoga teachers who want to support themselves and their students to live more restfully — not just through practices like śavāsana or guided relaxation, but by understanding how to regulate energy, restore the nervous system, and make space for ease and emotional wellbeing in daily life.

We’ll explore yoga as a way of being, not just something to do.
Not another thing on your list, but a way to come home to yourself.

If you’re longing for a gentler rhythm, one that helps you feel clearer, steadier, more like you — I’d love to welcome you.

This isn’t about doing more. It’s about giving yourself permission to do less… and discovering the clarity, vitality, and ease that lives in the pause.

Our Story

Small, friendly yoga classes and yoga therapy in Grey Lynn

The word “Svastha” in Sanskrit means to be in a state of optimal health and balance in body and mind. This is the underlying principle in all Svastha Yoga classes – to help you feel as good as you can.

Svastha Yoga is an integrated and personalised approach to yoga that addresses all aspects of health and well-being. The essence of the practice is the combination of functional movement, breath and mindfulness, which lays the foundation from which a positive mind-body connection emerges. As a result, we are able to live more fully in the present moment, in harmony with ourselves, with others and with our environment. Quite simply, this is a practice that will make you feel better, more at ease in your body and mind!

Barbara Coley, a mature and experienced yoga teacher and certified Yoga Therapist, offers small group classes, yoga therapy, and private instruction from her home studio in Grey Lynn. Barbara also presents the Svastha Yoga Teacher Training Program in Auckland and facilitates / co-teaches the Svastha Yoga Therapy Program.
