A self-requested health test helped save a life! Saad Mansour detected early-stage prostate cancer through a simple PSA test, all thanks to BODYiQ, a self-requested health and blood testing service. The Doctors Online partnered with Awanui Labs to provide clinical follow-up for abnormal results, helping you take control of your health.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month – a timely reminder to do regular self-checks, as early detection is vital. If you’ve noticed something unusual – like a lump, swelling, or skin changes – and can’t get a same-day appointment at your usual clinic, we’re here to help.
You can speak to one of our online doctors, and if you’ve taken photos beforehand, that can really help. They’ll assess your symptoms, provide support, and recommend in-person follow up if needed.
We encourage everyone to know what their breasts normally look and feel like, and to understand what common changes to watch out for. Breast Cancer NZ recommends checking your breasts once every year.
If you have any concerns or want to learn more about breast health, don't hesitate to book an appointment with us. We’re here to support you every step of the way.
October is Health Literacy Month – a great time to remind ourselves how important it is to understand and use health information to make the best decisions for our well-being.
Understanding your health shouldn’t be confusing. If you don’t understand something, please don’t hesitate to ask for clarity – we want to empower your health journey at all stages of life.
Improving your health literacy leads to better health.
It’s Mental Health Awareness Week. Over 25% of Kiwis experience poor mental wellbeing. If you’re feeling stressed, anxious, or overwhelmed, it’s important to seek professional support. Health Improvement Practitioners and Health Coaches are available for a consult at many of our medical centres – and it’s free to see them! https://www.thedoctors.co.nz/services/mental-health
80% of all new cancers are skin cancer in NZ. As we head into warmer months the best skin protection is a SPF50 sunscreen and covering up. If you have skin concerns, chat to our GP team. We’ll let you know if you need further assessment. https://thedoctors.co.nz/services/skin-checks-and-skin-cancer

Calling all mums, mums-to-be, dads, grandparents, aunties, and uncles!
Whooping cough cases are on the rise in NZ, and it’s a serious infection that spreads quickly. A national pertussis (whooping cough) epidemic has been declared. Let’s protect our whānau, especially if you are expecting.
💉 Best Protection Tips:
Expecting mums: Vaccination during pregnancy (recommended at 16 weeks) offers the best protection for your little one.
Infants: On-time vaccinations at 6 weeks, 3 months, and 5 months, with boosters at 4 and 11 years, provide ongoing defense.
Family Members: It’s essential for close contacts like dad and grandparents to be vaccinated, too.
🤰 Did you know? All pregnant women qualify for a fully funded whooping cough vaccination in the second or third trimester of every pregnancy.
✨ For others: Some people also qualify for free vaccinations. If not, our practice can still vaccinate anyone 13 and older (note, a fee applies if unfunded).
💉Book your whooping cough vaccination (Boostrix) easily by visiting our practice or calling our friendly reception team.

Our satellite clinic The Doctors Golf Road is temporarily closed during COVID-19
When the clinic is open, patients enrolled at The Doctors New Lynn or Golf Road can be seen for the same services and fees at either practice. To find out more or book appointments at The Doctors Golf Road phone 09 817 5442.
To protect our patients, staff and community, from Monday 30 March we will be taking bookings for phone consultations. Normal charges will apply. By introducing a telephone strategy, we will reduce the risk of an infected person visiting our practice and ensure we can continue meeting demand for other patients who need care throughout this trying time.
We will endeavour to keep to the time schedule but pressure on the medical centres may make the exact time hard to keep to. Rest assured we will be ringing you. We appreciate your patience and understanding and want you to take comfort in the knowledge that this is an effective way for our community to unite against COVID-19. Together, we can slow the spread.
If your normal GP or medical centre is closed during COVID-19, give us a call 09-827 7810, we can provide phone consultations to help you, even if you are not enrolled with us
