Celebrating Community, Connection & Care

A huge fa’afetai tele lava to Le Va for their continued investment in su***de prevention — and more importantly, in our communities and young people to truly thrive

Since Bubblegum first arrived during the challenges of COVID, it has been more than just a programme — it has been a movement of hope, connection, and joy. What started as a response to support our rangatahi through uncertain times has grown from strength to strength, reaching deeper into our communities and uplifting our young people in meaningful ways.

At its heart, Bubblegum has always focused on what matters most — protective factors:
✨ Strong identities
✨ Safe spaces
✨ Positive connections
✨ Cultural pride
✨ Open conversations around mental wellbeing

These are the foundations that protect, empower, and sustain our youth 🌱

Because of the support from Le Va, we are seeing communities come alive — young people laughing, connecting, leading, and supporting one another. That’s what real prevention looks like.

This is more than funding — this is impact, legacy, and alofa in action.

Fa’afetai Le Va for funding and for backing our young people, our vision, and our future.

There’s a lot of information out there around the weather warnings this weekend so it’s always good to Be Aware and Be Safe This Weekend. Let’s look out for one another and stay ready, not worried.

Check your supplies, charge your devices, and make a simple plan with your aiga/whānau. A little preparation goes a long way. Make sure you have your emergency numbers, ways to access information and your fully charged devices.

✨ Check in on elders, neighbours, and those who may need support (if you can do so safely).
✨ Stay updated with weather alerts
✨ Keep your home safe and your essentials close

We get through anything stronger together.
Stay safe, stay connected, and take care of your village.

Rally your village.

What a day!
A huge fa’afetai tele lava to our partners Blues Rugby for helping bring our annual Village Fest to life this past Saturday!
In the four hours leading up to the clash between Fijian Drua and the Blues, we welcomed over 1,000 people—from our schools, communities, and both Blues and Drua families—into a space focused on connection, culture, and wellbeing.
Big shoutout to our incredible provider partners including Pacific Rugby Players, Penina Trust, Hato Hone St John, Fonua Ola, and Health New Zealand (just to name a few!)—you made sure there was something for everyone before kick-off.

Over 100 Village Passports completed
Over 100 health checks & meaningful wellbeing conversations
And 300+ people rewarded with game access for putting their health first

This is what it looks like when sport meets community and wellbeing—real engagement, real impact, and real partnerships.
We’re proud. We’re grateful. And we’re just getting started.
Here are some highlights from Village Fest on Saturday.
