One of the best parts of what we do is being part of the communities we serve.

This morning, we had the privilege of giving back alongside our friends at Niu FM’s Morning Shack, sharing coffees, hot chocolates, conversations, and plenty of smiles with our community. Thanks Team!

Another huge fa’afetai to the amazing team at Alexander Café for helping make it all happen.

Every day is a good day to connect, serve, and uplift our people.

Connecting Community to the Classroom

For a few years now we’ve had the opportunity to host Professor Vili Nosa and his Pacific Health postgraduate class from the University of Auckland each year.

These visits are all about connecting classroom learning with real community experiences — sharing the why behind Pacific health services, hearing from our frontline teams and the work happening in our communities, and the importance of culturally grounded care for our Pacific families. Thank you for spending the morning with us team!

Well Child Wednesdays

As part of our Well Child Wednesdays series, we’re excited to introduce another amazing member of our South Seas Healthcare Well Child team — Seira!

Talofa lava - I’m Seira, the Team Lead of the Well Child Team at South Seas. I’m a Samoa and New Zealand Registered Nurse. I love working with mums and babies and supporting families to make sure our pēpē are reaching their milestones through health education and wrap-around support. One thing I’m most proud of is being able to speak both the Samoan and English languages and connect closely with our community, especially our Samoan families.

Our Well Child service is FREE for children from birth to 4 years old and provides ongoing support for parents, caregivers and aiga/family through every stage of early childhood.

From the Field: Learning Opportunities
SSH nurse Cherry Elisaia is currently undertaking her 3-month Long-Term Twinning (LTP) placement in Samoa as part of the MFAT NZ and Ministry of Health Samoa partnership programme focused on workforce development, shared learning, and health systems strengthening.

Over recent weeks, Cherry has been working alongside Samoa’s nursing and health workforce supporting outreach activities at the Malua Annual Conference (Fonotele), helping deliver blood pressure checks, blood glucose testing, wound care, and health education to almost 100 attendees. Cherry has also had the opportunity to work alongside the Emergency and Mental Health teams at Tupua Tamasese Meaole (TTM) Hospital in Samoa. A valuable learning opportunity for one of our team.

Fa’afetai tele to the Samoa nursing leadership teams for their ongoing support and hospitality. We look forward to Cherry sharing more updates from the field.

Last week, SSH had the opportunity to guest lecture for the PACH301 Pacific Health (Advanced Applied Knowledge) paper through Ana Kivalu (Project Lead) at the University of Otago, in Dunedin, where she was able to present about the work and services of South Seas Healthcare in supporting positive Pacific health outcomes.

Through a long-standing relationship with the University of Otago and alongside Talai Mapusua, South Seas Healthcare has regularly contributed guest lectures to the PACH301 Pacific Health paper — helping connect students with practical, community-led Pacific models of care and workforce development. Last week, Ana had the opportunity to share our work in person.

Fa’afetai to Talai and the PACH301 team for the opportunity to talanoa with the next generation of Pacific health leaders. Thank you

An awesome Men’s Health and Wellbeing Campaign to partner with The Blues, Blues Alumni, Pacific Rugby Players, Samoa Pure Water and Le Afio'aga O Aotearoa - as part of the wider Village Stewards Campaign. Proud to be part of a conversation and consortium of partners to raise awareness around mental health and su***de prevention. A big shout out to Le Va for the opportunity to support our collective to make this happen.

Well Child Wednesday’s : Team Intro’s

Meet another one of the caring faces behind our South Seas Well Child Team - Reta.

Talofa lava, I’m Reta. I’m a Registered Nurse with the South Seas Well Child Team. I’ve worked as a nurse in both New Zealand and Samoa, bringing years of experience supporting our Pacific families and communities.

Every week, I visit mums and babies in their homes and also support families through our clinic services. As a proud mum of four, I understand both the joys and challenges of parenting, which is why I’m passionate about helping families feel supported, confident, and connected to the right care for their pēpē and whānau.

Our Well Child team is here to walk alongside you from birth through the early years — supporting your child’s growth, development, health checks, feeding, parenting support, and wellbeing.

If you’re expecting, have a newborn, or looking for support for your little one, enrolling is easy and our team is here to help visit our main website: www.southseas.org.nz and click on Well Child Services.

More moments from an unforgettable weekend at Eden Park as Pacific Legends and Blues Alumni came together to champion Men’s Health & Wellbeing.

This campaign focused on rallying your village of supporters — reminding our communities that mental health, resilience and connection matter, and that no one should walk alone.

With over 500 people in attendance for the men’s health curtain raiser between Pacific Legends and Blues Alumni it was powerful to see both teams, families and supporters stand together for a cause bigger than the game. Thank you to everyone who joined in support - you stand with us!

A huge thank you to Blues Rugby and Blues Alumni for your partnership and support, and a special thanks to Seth S for capturing these special moments so beautifully.

Here are just a few highlights from the day. We’ll be uploading the full gallery — including pre-game, game and post-game moments — to the South Seas website by the end of the week for viewing and download. We’ll share the link mid-week.

Thank You to Our Village of Supporters

Fa’afetai tele lava to our incredible village of partners, supporters, volunteers, and community champions who helped make yesterday’s milestone event between the Pacific Legends and Blues Alumni so special.

This weekend’s match was about more than rugby — it was about championing Men’s Health and Wellbeing, with a strong focus on mental health, su***de prevention, connection, and creating safe spaces for our families and communities to thrive.

Behind the scenes, many people have been working tirelessly within the community — strengthening partnerships, building capability, and upskilling in tools and training to ensure we continue raising awareness and making a meaningful difference for our people.

We are deeply grateful for everyone who has stood behind this movement and supported the campaign with heart, time, energy, and service. Including taking the time to get your tickets to support us on the field yesterday.

A special acknowledgement to our Pacific Legends who proudly took the field, alongside our valued partners:

* Blues Rugby
* Auckland Rugby
* Eden Park
* Pacific Rugby Players
* Samoa Pure Water
* Le Afio’aga o Aotearoa
* Le Va
* and the leadership and support of John Afoa and Hale T-Pole.

A huge thank you also to our physiotherapist, Sarah Fanuatanu from Habit Health Pasifika Ōtara, for generously giving your time to support our players — ensuring they were cared for, game-ready, and able to return safely to their families.

This movement is only possible because of the village standing behind it. Thank you everyone for walking alongside us. Together, we continue to strengthen our communities and create hope for our families.

Championing Men’s Health and Wellbeing — with a strong focus on mental health and su***de prevention.

We rallied our village of partners to come together, raise awareness, and strengthen support for our communities. We’ll continue to do this.

The more we stand alongside and steward our people, the stronger we create spaces where our families can thrive.

Proud to support an incredible movement.

Sharing a few moments from tonight with our full album of official photos to come. Thank you to Le Va Le Afio'aga O Aotearoa The Blues
