This September is Cervical Screening Awareness Month in Aotearoa.

Did you know that around 70.8 % of eligible people in NZ are participating in cervical screening? That means nearly 3 in 10 are still missing out—and early detection can make all the difference.

It's a friendly reminder to make sure your cervical screening is up to date—or schedule one if you’re due.

At South Seas, we believe in the power of prevention. If you're aged 25–69 (or up to 74 if you're unscreened), now’s the time—whether through a clinician visit or the safe, convenient self-test option. It can save lives.
Let’s protect our communities together. Book your check-in today!

It’s been a long-standing tradition at South Seas Healthcare to celebrate Father’s Day — and this year was no different.
We recognise the many hats our fathers wear in both their families and our organisation, and we couldn’t miss the chance to pause, celebrate, and acknowledge them.
Here are a few moments from our early Father’s Day Morning Tea held on Friday. Wishing all fathers and father-figures a very Happy Father’s Day from the South Seas team.

South Seas Whānau Ora Soft Launch

Today we proudly launched our Whānau Ora initiative at South Seas Healthcare in the heart of our community. This initiative is part of South Seas’ wider vision to provide a full suite of wraparound support services for families across Ōtara-Papatoetoe.

In partnership with the Tātou Collective, our new-look Whānau Ora service will see dedicated navigators walking alongside families with the greatest needs—helping them achieve long-term goals in housing, health, education, finances, and overall wellbeing.

We extend a heartfelt thank you to our community, our local Reverends and Ministers, and Father Michael Endemann for blessing our morning with words of encouragement and prayer.

Special thanks also to Apulu Reece Autagavaia, Chair of the Ōtara-Papatoetoe Local Board, for joining us, and to our valued partners Ōtara Health and Ōtara Family Christian Health for standing alongside us on this journey.

Your aroha, faith, and continued partnership remind us why community support is so critical to the success of Whānau Ora.

Celebrating Our Young People

We have always championed the voices and stories of our young people — and we’re thrilled to share some exciting news! With the support of the Ministry of Youth Development, the MYSTORY Programme will continue for the next three years!

This journey is about more than just a programme — it’s about empowering rangatahi, young people to share their stories, grow in confidence, and strengthen the connections that bind our communities together. We’re proud to be on this journey with our young people and their families and our community.

A big MALO! to MYD for believing in this vision, and to our incredible youth whose creativity, leadership, and courage inspire us every day.

We also acknowledge with gratitude the talanoa and visit this week from Seira Aukuso Su’e, Auckland & Te Tai Tokerau Regional Relationship Manager — your encouragement fuels the journey ahead.

Here’s to the next three years of stories, voices, and leadership rising! Keep an eye out as we share more about our Bubblegum MYSTORY youth programmes over the next couple days.

Fa’afetai tele lava to Minister Karen Chhour for visiting us today. We are looking forward to continuing the important conversations needed and contribute to solutions that will make a real difference for our communities.

Addressing family violence and sexual violence is vital to the wellbeing of all people in Aotearoa New Zealand. Guided by Te Aorerekura – the National Strategy and Action Plan, we are committed to working collectively with government, tangata whenua, community providers, and families to create safer futures.

At the heart of this galuega is our shared vision: children growing up safe, loved, and supported by a strong network of care grounded in culture, community, and aroha.

Together, we can build lasting change.

Celebrating Uike Kātoanga’i ‘o e Lea Faka-Tonga – Tonga Language Week!

This afternoon we wrapped up a busy week with a celebration that brought our team together in the spirit of Tongan culture and language.

The event was filled with knowledge sharing, delicious Tongan delicacies, lively music, cultural performances, and even a fun quiz!

It was a wonderful way to learn, connect, and close out the working week—celebrating the richness of Tonga’s language and traditions as one organisation.

Here are a few snapshots from today’s festivities.
