Support, right where our families are.

For over a year, South Seas has proudly hosted co-located MSD support in our Wellbeing Hub — with a dedicated MSD Case Manager working alongside our teams to provide face-to-face, timely help for fanau.

Working closely with local Work and Income offices, our in-house based MSD Case Manager plays a vital role in helping families navigate income support, housing pathways, employment opportunities, and training options.

This partnership is strengthened through referrals from across South Seas — including Whānau Ora and our clinic and wider services— ensuring families experience seamless, wrap-around care as they work toward stability and financial independence.

“I’ve been based at South Seas for over a year. I receive referrals from all the teams here all the time. My role is to triage the needs from the families and decide what we can help with the qualified families.”
— Inisi Lavini, MSD Case Manager

“Inisi is very busy talking with families we are able to refer from our wider services . It’s been really good for her to be based and connect with our teams — because that makes sure the needs from the families are answered in a timely manner.”
— Jean Mataafa, SSH Whanau Ora Service

When services work together, our communities are stronger.

Happy New Year from South Seas Healthcare Trust!
May 2026 bring wellbeing, connection, and strength to all communities. We look forward to the year ahead with you all!

28/12/2025

As the final days of 2025 unfold, we’ve taken a moment to pause, reflect, and reset. We’re sharing a few memories from the year gone by.

This year has reminded us of the strength found in community, the power of partnership, and the quiet resilience of our people — our staff, clinicians, partners, and the whānau and fānau we are privileged to walk alongside every day. There have been challenges, growth, learning, and moments of real gratitude, all shaping the journey we continue together.

As we look ahead to the new year, we do so grounded in purpose and hopeful for what’s to come — renewed energy, continued collaboration, and a shared commitment to wellbeing.

From all of us at South Seas Healthcare Trust, we wish you and your loved ones a safe, restful end to 2025 and a New Year filled with health, peace, and possibility.

Happy Boxing Day!

Boxing Day has its roots in giving back — traditionally a day when employers and communities shared “Christmas boxes” of food, money, or gifts with workers and those in need. Over time, it’s become a day for rest, reflection, sport, and yes… a little shopping too!

Whether you’re enjoying leftovers, watching the cricket or another sport, catching up with whānau, or heading out for the Boxing Day sales, we hope today is filled with ease, laughter, and good energy.

For those hitting the shops or travelling — please take care on the roads, be patient, and look out for one another. Wishing everyone a safe, relaxed, and happy Boxing Day.

Merry Christmas from South Seas Healthcare

As the year draws to a close, we pause to reflect on a year that has held both challenges and blessings. Through it all, we are deeply grateful for the strength of our communities, the dedication of our staff, and the trust placed in us by our patients and whānau.

We acknowledge the partnerships that have walked alongside us this year — your collaboration, support, and shared commitment to wellbeing continue to make a real difference.

As we walk into Christmas Day, we wish you and your families peace, rest, and moments of connection. May this time be filled with care, hope, and safety, and may the year ahead bring renewed strength and good health.

From all of us at South Seas Healthcare, we wish you a safe and blessed Christmas Day.

Merry Christmas to you all.

Last week, we had the opportunity to support a small number of South Seas Healthcare patients and fanau as they head into the Christmas period.

This time of year reminds us, as an organisation of how we can show up for our fanau in practical ways.

Thank you to Blues Rugby and LEGO for partnering with us and helping make this possible.

A Night of Stars at South Seas Healthcare
Last week, our SSH whānau came together for one of our favourite traditions — our Annual Staff Awards & End-of-Year Dinner.

What many may not see is that this celebration is months in the making. From planning to decorating to selecting a theme, our incredible staff and Board are involved every step of the way to create a night that truly honours our people.

Every year, our EOY theme is chosen by staff — and this year they went all out with “Hollywood”, bringing the glitz, glamour, and red-carpet magic to South Seas!

In the lead-up, our staff spent two months nominating their peers across a range of award categories. The quality of nominations was so outstanding that several awards had two winners.

To everyone who joined us, supported us, dressed up with us, and celebrated our people — fa’afetai tele lava, thank you so much. You helped make the night unforgettable. Here are some photos capturing the brilliance, joy, and mana of the evening.

Celebrating Our Mana Kidz Champions!

At the Mana Kidz End-of-Year Celebration, hosted by National Hauora Coalition (NHC) our hard working South Seas Healthcare Mana Kidz team was honoured in the most beautiful way — and we couldn’t be prouder! These awards reflect the heart, innovation, and unwavering commitment our team brings into schools and communities every single day.

1. The Award For Dedication to Innovative Practice
→ Awarded to the South Seas Healthcare Team

2. The Award for The Heart of Mana Kidz Award
→ Matina Noora & Matelita Eliesa

3. Long Service Award - 5 Years with South Seas Mana Kidz
→ Alisi Misa

4. For Exceptional Leadership Skills
→ Daphne Leakehe

These honours speak volumes about the aroha, professionalism, and consistency our team shows in caring for our tamariki and supporting whānau.

Fa’afetai tele lava, Mālō ‘aupito, and thank you to NHC and the Mana Kidz whānau for celebrating this journey with us. We carry these awards with humility and with deep gratitude for the privilege to serve.

Grateful, proud, and grounded in our purpose
Last week, our Whānau Ora Team had the privilege of being recognised at the Tātou Collective Provider Awards — a timely moment to pause and reflect on the galuega that happens quietly, faithfully, and every day for our whānau.
We were humbled to receive 2nd Place – Top Delivery Partner, acknowledged for strong performance and for upholding quality and professionalism across the network. More than any award, we truly hope this reflects what matters most — that our families have felt supported, seen, and helped through our service. That is the real measure of success for us.

A heartfelt congratulations to our Whānau Ora Team Leader, Jean Marie Mataafa, who was awarded 1st Place – Top Navigator for her exceptional navigational skills and for leading key establishment milestones with care and excellence. An incredible achievement that honours the whole team.
We remain deeply grateful to our partners, our kaimahi, and most importantly our whānau who place their trust in us. We carry this recognition with humility and a renewed commitment to serve even better.

As the school year wraps up, we want to give a huge shoutout to our awesome Mana Kidz team — out in schools every day, keeping our tamariki healthy, confident, and ready to learn.

In partnership with National Hauora Coalition (NHC), South Seas has proudly delivered Mana Kidz for many years — a free, nurse-led school health programme that continues to make a powerful impact across South Auckland.

From rheumatic fever prevention to vision and hearing checks, skin infection treatment, and daily health assessments, Mana Kidz is always there — right where our tamariki need us most.

We are proud of what our team achieves, through delivering Mana Kidz:
✔️ Reduction in acute rheumatic fever
✔️ Tamariki spending less time in hospital
✔️ Improved school attendance
✔️ Happier, healthier, more engaged learners

Last Day of Movember | Pacific Men’s Health Matters

As we close out November, we’re reminded that men’s health isn’t a one-month campaign — it’s a lifelong commitment. Today we wrap up with our close out message from Pacific Legends player Valentine Tauamiti, who reminds us of something powerful: “Reconnecting with your brothers — your teammates, your friends — off the field is just as important as the game itself.”

When our Pacific men stay connected, supported, and grounded in community, our whole village gets stronger. Together with Pacific Rugby Players (PRP), we’ve been championing the long game — health, wellbeing, and a future where our men thrive.

Watch the final video of our November Men’s Health series and join us in backing our men, today and every day.
