Another old 90's photo from the first Worldwise clinic in Newmarket. It was a tricky time back then trying to prove to everyone WHY travel medicine should be a specialty service. Even doctors that called us didn't think it was necessary. From all of his experience travelling, Dr Marc Shaw persevered, and realised not only was there a need to offer a service to New Zealanders travelling, but also to Doctors & Nurses - updating them on the latest travel health alerts and information. This is when Worldwise Online was born - an online tool that Health Professionals all over the country could login to and search up individual countries, get the absolute latest health information on, and support their patients with this guide. This coincided with Worldwise Travel Medicine Conferences and the rest is history.... Worldwise is STILL going 30 years later, has clinics throughout the country and offering an epic line up of industry experts at this years Travel Medicine Conference 18-20th July in Auckland. If you are a Health Professional interested in Travel Medicine, this is the event to go to! online@worldwise.co.nz

As Worldwise approaches 30 years, we are taking a trip down memory lane to the first ever clinic on 21 Remuera Road, Newmarket. It was on the corner of Nuffield street. Back then, there were none of the shops and restaurants there are now...the only shop people went to down around there was Karen Walker which still stands. Check out the beautiful (red!) mohair knitted sweater our Medical Director Dr Marc Shaw is wearing! 🤣

Marc ponders the future of globe trotting for travellers.

I have just read a National Geographic article on how the pandemic has changed our lives. Before COVID closed the world earlier this year, some 1.5 billion folk were travelling through international borders. The closing of national borders globally has totally halted travel and with that happenin...

Here is the 6th installment of 'Marc's Museum' - Marc spent some time in Pitcairn Islands as the local Doctor along with his wife, Lynne who was the local Nurse. Here he presents a couple of the local crafts.

Even though we are unable to travel Internationally at the moment, doesn't mean we can't travel with our memories!
Medical Director, Marc Shaw's house is like a Museum, filled with an enormous collection of interesting artifacts that he has picked up from his travels ALL around the globe. We have decided the stories should be told!
