Each of these essentials cover a basic immune function. They’re generally hard to get enough of from our diets and well, the vitamin D is obviously lacking this time of year.

Optimal zinc status has been found to inhibit growth of the common cold virus (HRV) and our teenagers especially need more during this period of growth and development.
πŸƒ
Even in summer it’s hard to get enough Vitamin D. We need upwards of 20mins in the sun with 30% of our body exposed to get enough. It’s a critical immune nutrient (among MANY other things) as it stimulates antimicrobial activities in neutrophils and monocytes.

As with most nutrients in their supplemental form, Vitamin C is best taken for a period of time, with breaks in between. Autumn and Winter are good times to get back into some extra vitamin C to keep immune resilience up. In case you think your orange juice will do the trick, just take a look at the sugar content in that stuff 🀯
