Have you ever noticed how sometimes the people around
us choose what feels easy over what’s real?

How they’re drawn to the temporary high, the instant approval,
instead of the deeper work
that requires reflection
and accountability?

When we do the work to rise
when we step fully into our truth, our clarity, and our energy
others who aren’t ready,
or aren’t willing,
will often choose the easy path.

It’s never about you
it’s about them.
They aren’t ready to reflect,
to grow, or to take responsibility,
so they seek what makes them feel good for a moment.

Many of us carry the weight of relationships that ask us to dim
our light, to play small
so others don’t have
to face themselves.

Over time, those old patterns lodge in our body
our bones,
our posture,
even the way we breathe

When I started working with Karen & Kanika, due to some stressful situations I was experiencing daily anxiety and bouts of depression—something I’d never dealt with before. It was escalating quickly, and I found myself using alcohol just to get through. I knew something had to change. I came into Kanika therapy hoping to find some sense of daily peace.

What I found has been far more powerful than I expected.

I've now been alcohol-free for four months, without struggle. My anxiety has eased significantly—of course, life still throws curveballs, but now I have tools. The breathing techniques, body awareness, and belief work Kanika taught me have been game-changing. I feel calm and capable of coping.

Since beginning this journey, I’m calmer, happier, more confident, and surprisingly bubbly and chatty—something I never thought I’d say about myself. ✨ Brilliant Self-Awareness Isn’t
Enough Here’s Why ✨

I’ve had a huge realisation
I feel called to share today
maybe it will unlock something
for you too.

I’ve always known I have brilliant self-awareness, sharp, deep, piercing right to the root of my patterns.
I can see why I do what I do.
I can name the wound.
I can track the loop.

But here’s the raw truth I woke up to:

👉🏼 Awareness alone doesn’t break
the loop.
Without a new action, a new way of being, a new way of breathing
it into my bones
awareness just circles back on itself.
It can even become another trap.

The old beliefs
It must be me.
I’m the problem.
I deserve crumbs.
I have to fix it all.
They don’t live in my mind alone.
They live in the bones.
They live in the frozen places my body has held tight for years,
sometimes decades.

This is where Kanika comes in.
Kanika is not just beautiful energy work, it’s a bone-deep remembrance.

When the bones are held, witnessed, softened, the old stories start to loosen their grip.
When the breath moves through places that once held only fear, punishment, or shame
a new truth can settle in:

This is what happens when you heal…

Your energy shifts.
Your boundaries recalibrate.
Your nervous system stops tolerating what it once made excuses for.

You begin to feel it
not just in your mind,
but in your body.
A deep, clear “No thank you.”
A quiet but firm “That doesn’t feel good anymore.”

What used to feel familiar now feels misaligned.
What used to pass as “connection” now feels like confusion.
And suddenly, you’re no longer available for it.

Not because you’re hard or closed.
But because you’re finally rooted.
You’re finally listening to your body before your conditioning.

This is the power of healing.

You stop abandoning yourself just to keep the peace.
You stop over-explaining your needs.
You stop saying yes when your whole body is screaming no.

Instead, you pause.
You breathe.
You honour the space between stimulus and response.
And in that space… you choose differently.

You choose you.

Reclaiming Safety Through the Body

The body remembers.
But it can also relearn
that it’s safe to stay,
to breathe, to be here."

In my Kanika work,
one of the core foundations I support clients with is learning to feel safe inside their own bodies again.

For many who have experienced trauma — especially relational trauma such as narcissistic abuse — the body can feel like an unsafe place.
In moments of stress or threat, the natural response can be to dissociate: to leave the body in order to survive overwhelming emotions.

But true healing happens when we can stay present through the intensity, and find ways to anchor ourselves back into the body with safety, compassion, and trust.

When I work with clients in this area, we build what I call a "Safety Toolkit" personalized, body-centered practices that bring them back to themselves during moments
of activation.

This might include:

Grounding touch (like placing a hand on the heart) combined with affirmations of self-safety.

Regulating the breath to soothe the nervous system.

Shaking out stuck energy to prevent it from overwhelming the body.

Using sensory anchors — familiar scents, soothing textures — that immediately connect them to feelings of nurture and calm.

Each tool is not just a technique
it is a new experience of safety.
A message to the nervous system:
"You are no longer alone. You are no longer in danger. You are safe here, now, in yourself."

This work is vital because trauma is not just stored in the mind — it lives in the body.
And so healing must also happen through the body: gently,
lovingly, patiently.

In Kanika, we do not force or override the body’s responses.
We meet them with reverence.
We listen.
We bring the body new evidence that it is safe to stay.

From here,
true transformation begins.
From survival to sovereignty.
From fragmentation to wholeness.
From fear to deep, embodied freedom.

This is the heart of the journey.
And it is one of the most courageous journeys a human being can make.

So often we wait
consciously or unconsciously
for someone else to notice
we’re not okay.
To reach out, to fix it, to know.
But the truth is: no one else can truly know what we need unless we do.

The journey of healing, growth, and embodiment begins when we learn to pause, check in, and ask ourselves:
"What do I need right now?"

Not what someone else thinks
we should need.
Not what we’ve been conditioned to believe we deserve.
But what our body, heart, and soul
are whispering (or sometimes screaming) for.

💡 Here’s the thing:

You are the expert of your inner world.
You are the only one who can give voice to your needs.
And once you’re clear, you can start to lovingly and clearly communicate them to others.

Let’s look at a few areas where needs might be asking to be seen and met:

🌿 Physical Needs
These are the basics our body depends on to function and feel safe.

Examples:
• I need more rest—I’ve been running on empty.
• I need nourishing food that supports my energy.
• I need touch—like a hug or gentle massage.
• I need to move my body and release tension.

💓 Emotional Needs
These help us feel seen, held, and connected—to ourselves and others.

Examples:
• I need to be listened to without being fixed.
• I need space to cry and feel without judgment.
• I need reassurance that I’m still loved, even when I’m not “on.”
• I need to laugh and feel lightness again.

🧠 Mental Needs
Our minds also have needs—for clarity, stimulation, peace, and rest.

Examples:
• I need time away from screens and mental clutter.
• I need to focus on one thing at a time.
• I need inspiration—something that lights up my thinking.
• I need space to process my thoughts without pressure.
• I need healthy boundaries with information or conversations that drain me.

✨ Spiritual Needs
These are the longings of the soul—for meaning, connection, stillness, and truth.

Examples:
• I need silence and space to reconnect with myself.
• I need time in nature to remember I belong.
• I need ritual—something sacred that grounds me.
• I need to be reminded of beauty and grace in this moment.

You don’t have to meet every need on your own but you do have to
name them.
This is where your power and
choice begin.

Start right now by asking yourself

What need in you is currently going unmet?
What would shift if you gave yourself permission to name it—and honor it?

You might like to journal on:
• What do I need right now—physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually?
• What gets in the way of me meeting my own needs?
• What’s one small action I could take today to tend to one of those needs?

✨ If this brings up something tender or you're not sure where to begin, you’re not alone.
Sometimes, our needs have been quiet for a long time, waiting for us to listen. Start small.
Start where you are.

Over my 8 sessions working
with Karen the shift in my outlook, energy, reactions and responses to people and situations has
changed dramatically.

I now have the ability to choose how
I react and how I see things
and also let it take its course
whereas before I always expected
the worst and tried to stop
that happening.

I feel like I can breathe now and there are many more glimmers of hope rather than constant dread.

I still have my moments however I catch them and remind myself what Karen has worked through with me and reframe my perception and response according to the actual situation rather than the one my mind has always been quick to imagine.
