Happy Friday! We end the working week with a few quotes, showing what Recreate means to this group of parents in our community.

We are so thankful to journey with over 500 young people and their families on such a regular basis, and we wish you all a nice weekend wherever you are.

Although the sun is in full force, we still created our very own winter wonderland in SNOWPLANET! With all our warm clothing on, we sled down the slope for fun in the snow.

We love keeping it active and fun for our junior aged participants, and we look forward to Rotorua Adventure with this awesome crew in February!

This week we are in booking request processing mode, and we aim to send out booking confirmation emails very soon! We love to see the enthusiasm for our summer programmes, with so much to look forward to.

In other news, we are updating our cancellation policy to address the challenges of late cancellations. This comes into affect for programmes commencing from 1st January 2026, you can read all about it by clicking the link below.

How good are these photos of our Whitianga Weekender! A massive thank you to Sea Cave Adventures for our trip on the water! Ash, the skipper, was so so amazing with the our group by immediately engaging with us and got to know us, he was just so great. We will be back.

We also sadly farwell Jin, who has been with us at Recreate NZ since 2012.

"Just a short note to thank you kindly for organising such fantastic Getaways for Jin and others," says Jin's Mother. "Through Recreate, he has developed lots of incredible life skills, made good friendships, created lots of wonderful memories, are able to enjoy variety of programmes and feel inclusiveness in society. Jin thoroughly enjoyed all the Getaways, and he is sad that he is not able to participate in future programmes as he is leaving New Zealand with his family. We thank all Recreate staff for being part of Jin's life journey, and we wish Recreate all the very best!"

We loved our time at Lake Ōkāreka near Rotorua a few weekends ago, with a trip to Waikite Valley Hotpools, a swim at Lake Tarawera, and a geothermal walk at Wai-o-tapu.

This Getaway was a great prelude to summer just around the corner, and we are looking forward to many more weekends away across the motu!

For our Term 1 / Summer booking round, our teams are now collating and processing all your requests, and we aim to send back booking confirmations either end of this week or into next week.

We are thrilled to have the multi-year support from Sport New Zealand as part of their Disability Investment for 2025-2028. This fund has a focus on our organisational resilience, by strengthening our training of staff, our governance, policies and procedures. This funding also directly supports our ability to lead high quality programmes for our community.

We have just enjoyed seeing our national team in Auckland for team training last month, and we are excited about getting stuck into the mahi co-designed through Recreate NZ and Sport NZ.

Calling over 30s, come along to Recreate NZ in Ellerslie in just over a weeks time on Friday 28th November! This is a free (or $5 koha) casual drop in, open to adults in our community with tea, coffee, cold drinks, and something to snack on. Bring a friend and come socialise! Our Term 1 / Summer programmes are almost ready for your viewing and requesting!

Check in at www.recreate.org.nz from 10am this Saturday to see what we have on offer for January, February and March 2026.

Our booking request window will be open for one week, closing end of Sunday 16th November. We will then turn our attention to turning these requests into confirmations.

Our Garden to Plate Moxie course is in full swing for term 4, and we are loving being based at our very own fit-for-purpose kitchen with our 3 garden beds out the back!

Our intention is to teach practical cooking and gardening skills at our pace, so participants can replicate what they have learnt at home.

With a bit of time spare, we also headed over to Interacting Auckland at the Corban Estate Arts Centre in Henderson.

From 10am on this date, please make your way to our website to view and request our programmes for January, February, March 2026.

We also proudly announce our current collaboration with IHC New Zealand taking place in Christchurch, Waikato and the Hawke's Bay!

This exciting development has allowed more young people enjoy meaningful experiences out of the home, and to engage with our wider communities.

We also warmly introduce Leela Morgan in our Christchurch region, and we also post a 'save the date' for our 2026 iteration of Illuminate in Mount Albert, Auckland.

From 10am Saturday 8th November, head along to www.recreate.org.nz to make your booking requests for all our programmes for January, February and March 2026.

The window to make your booking requests will close end of Sunday 16th November, when our teams begin to process the hundreds of requests before confirmations are sent out.
