Here we are again!

It’s been a busy year for us here at Repromed, especially with the exciting move in January to our bigger clinic space on Carlton Gore Road, Newmarket. It was truly a labour of love from our whole team, and we are happy in our new home - the incredible green outlook to Auckland Domain is calming and makes it very special. Thank you for all your positive feedback, the overall vibe of the building has really added to the sense of belonging and heart that defines everything we do here.

This year has also brought its own challenges for many, and we acknowledge those who have found this year’s fertility journey difficult. We hope you are able to take some time over the holidays to rest and recharge, surrounded by family and friends.

2025 has been a busy year for our team representing Repromed globally. I was pleased to attend the International Federation of Fertility Societies World Congress in Tokyo, Japan, which was focused on ‘Diversity, Sustainability and Resilience in Reproductive Medicine’. We had senior staff attending conferences in Singapore and Australia from our medical, embryology, scientific, and counselling teams. Knowledge-sharing is key within our practice as we stay on top of new research, technological advances and innovations for improved outcomes.

Personally, I’m looking forward to some much-needed family time, hopefully in the sun – or not, we know summer weather can be unpredictable!

Thank you for allowing us to support you. Ngā mihi o te kirihimete me te Tau Hou - from all of us here, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a restful holiday season.

Good news for anyone considering donor conception in the future – there are proposed changes in legislation that will further protect children and prevent over-donation. The Governance and Administration Select Committee is due to report back on the wide-ranging bill in February 2026.

See this recent Newsroom article for helpful context about why clear guidelines and oversight are so important. It’s encouraging to see conversations happening that prioritise the wellbeing of families and future tamariki.

S***m donation through official channels is tracked through a flawed process, and 'community donors' are making it harder, reports Andrew Bevin.

🌈 Intersex Awareness Day - 26 October 🌈
Intersex is a term used to describe people born with reproductive or sexual anatomy that doesn’t fit typical definitions. It’s estimated that up to 1.7% of people worldwide have intersex traits.
At Repromed, we believe everyone deserves access to respectful, inclusive, and affirming fertility care. We’re proud to be the first fertility clinic in Aotearoa to be awarded the Rainbow Tick and today we celebrate our intersex community and their whānau.

What can you do to prepare for IVF treatment?

We asked Repromed Fertility Nurse, Juliet Davies for her top tips for preparing for IVF. She says:

“It’s important to know that when you have been referred for fertility treatment, the cause of your reduced fertility is often out of your control. But there are some things you can focus on to help you prepare for IVF, including:

✔️Follow a Mediterranean-style diet packed with colourful fruits, veggies, whole grains, legumes, and healthy fats
✔️Stay hydrated by drinking at least 1 litre of water a day
✔️Engage in gentle, enjoyable activities such as walking, yoga, or pilates
✔️Supplement with folate or folic acid and iodine for at least three months prior to conceiving
✔️Quit smoking and va**ng and avoid drugs and alcohol”
