Pregnant people should get the Boostrix whooping cough vaccine from 16 weeks to help protect the newborn until they get their first immunisation at 6 weeks.

And for babies and children, the schedule is:

In New Zealand, the whooping cough immunisation schedule for babies and children is as follows:
6 weeks, 3 months, and 5 months: The primary course of the DTaP-IPV-HepB/Hib vaccine (Infanrix-hexa) is given as three injections in the arm or leg
4 years: A booster dose of DTaP-IPV (Infanrix-IPV) is given
11 years: A booster dose of Tdap (Boostrix) is given

It comes after case numbers spiked in May, June, July and again in September.
